With upland bird closing yesterday, my mind has switched back to the river. Looking forward to getting some fur and feathers wet here soon.

When I think about fishing, I always end up tying a few bugs to kill the time… boxes are overflowing anymore with how little spare time I have to do anything.

We still have another month to hunt, and then steelhead in the rivers until the water blows out.

It’ll be March before I start tying. .

Yeah I’ve been getting the itch. Started tying some today. My problem is I tend to tie my favorites which I have good stock. Instead I should be tying some other essential I have less of.

I decided to change it up a little and tie a few soft hackles.

I didn’t get 50 but have committed to do more. I did get an iconic drift boat this year and got it out on the Bighorn with my son and grandson…

So much to do @shrapnel and never enough time. You have good focus on quality ways to spend time.
Nice boat and fish...and sharing time with your son/ grandson.

50 days is awesome. I used to do that. Young kiddos makes it a lot more difficult to balance with big game and my bird dog, but looking forward to dusting off the rods.

Yeah, stages of life. I started with the rod, and now after many years find myself circling back around to making fishing the priority. Many years the rods were stowed from Sept to March. Now I fish every month.
