Just been working on simple streamer patterns lately, because that’s about all I fish this time of year. I pretty much refuse to bobber fish unless it’s lights out.

1/80th oz microjig patterns are killer freshwater lures. I have a friend (his blog) who’s seemingly caught every fish possible on them.

Brutal beat down on the river today. Water quality was crap, with tremendous debris.

Was going through my streamer box and realized I need to work on some colors other than olive.

3 straight days of fishing lined up with a good buddy beginning tomorrow, two days float fishing. Haven’t done that in a long time! Looking forward to it. Rivers will be cold but hoping to dredge a few up. Fishing one river I’ve never fished but I’ve heard good things.

Spring is around the corner and opportunity only expands.

Rob’s silly fly-jig picked up some more rainbows, and a small walleye jumped in a silver version. I did modify it a little by using a mono loop to pull a flashabou tail through.

Yes, I really do prefer to use a fly reel for the larger trout on ice as I can palm the drag and get better control.
