I just read this article on it. Pretty cool if the claims turn out to be legit.

Already a thread...general consensus is that it won't last

Thanks, I missed it.

Im hoping for a 300wsm back country next
Interesting to watch. Sounds like it’s basically the reinvention of cases and powders I guess. Lots of chamberings to reinvent that would be interesting. Some reinvented chamberings might eliminate their modern day competitors.

Isn’t the 7BC basically a 280AI with a new case material and powder?

Would a 300wsmBC eliminate the 300PRC?

Imagine what a .270BC, 30.06BC, .338WMBC, .284WinBC, .308WinBC would be and what modern day cartridges would be defunct. And I wonder if BC type rifles would be backwards compatible with the older cartridges?

Now let’s really get creative.
What about straight walled BCs?

It appears to be an 06'ish shaped/sized case but its not the same as a 280AI which also has the 06 as a parent case a couple steps back.

Jumping the gun there. Have yet to prove out how they'd be manufactured at scale, if they are reasonably reloadable for the handloader, if they can achieve the same precision at these higher pressures, or any other possible issues.

I'm not sure if straight wall cartridges would be as good a fit for the really high pressure applications.. 350 legend was kind of alone at the top with a SAAMI max of 55k psi IIRC.

Wonder how much box of ammo is? You would have to exclusively reload for it I'm sure since it's a new cartridge. I was between a 7mm Rem Mag and 7 PRC after selling my old 7mm Rem Mag. Sure the velocity/energy is probably better but I went with the rem mag since I already had the dies, reloaded rounds already. My friend bought a 300 prc years ago and barely uses it because one, he doesn't reload and two he has a .308, 6.5 prc etc.

It’s priced right with their other premium ammo. It doesn’t sound like reloading will be an option for awhile (until they get the dies figured out) so it will all be factory loaded ammo from Federal initially.

I wouldn't get one until the dies are available if it were me. I've always kind of been intrigued about a 28 nosler but never have bought one. They will always be putting out new cartridges that will be pushing higher speed, pressures. The critters we chase won't have anywhere to run one day when we all have shoulder fired rail guns lol

Same...been doing a little 28 Nos diving & the consensus seems to be a hard charging expensive bbl burner.

Ya, but nobody buys a hot rod then bitches about the fuel mileage.

.28N is a hot rod.

I think you NEED, nay DESERVE a hot rod.
And 10-15 more hot rods along with actual hot rods like muscle cars from the 60s and 70s. My wife has never agreed though :ROFLMAO:

Max barrel pressure is 65,000 psi and with velocities easily over 3,000 fps. That is insane. Have to order the rifle and a spare barrel if you shoot alot.

Except for walking to zero and intermittent checking I don’t kill a lot of paper.

I wholly agree with @Potsie

55k psi as is…. With this alloy steel and new powder wouldn’t it be higher rated?
Maybe say….65k psi? Or does the geometry of a straight wall limit that? Just a thought.
