I have taken the .270 Win into very interesting performance using 700LA to maximize magazine COAL capacity which then increases case capacity. I added 0.290 freebore, 27" Preferred Barrel Light Palma 1:8tw, 5R, Triggertech in Magpul stock. I am running a 156HH@3250 with RL26. Load topped out over 3300.

Same 700LA thought concept for recent 30-06 build EXCEPT used a Serengeti bore rider reamer with 0.170 freebore. MDT new Field Stock (BTW, really nice price point $299), 26" McGowen, 1:9tw. I just started ladders but below zero cold weather has suggested take a break. Initially, the 180HH topped 3100 with W760, more work to be done, I am thinking Ramshot Big Game just might get a little more out of it. The 06 was built by gunsmith friend in TX. Nice Cerakote finish offsets earth MDT Field Stock nicely. But you have to be careful when a "friend" does the work. See pics.

I was certain standard cartridges have "governors" on them from initial SAAMI release relative to twist, throat etc. The 270 is a 65K cartridge with a long neck which is absolutely ideal for longer heavier higher BC bullets when tied to long magazine capacity with reamers and freebore. Answer is most definitely. Same with 06. The 06 is not an AI which I wanted to show not necessary with appropriate design. See 156HH pic

My gunsmith buddy has done a 35Whelen AI with absolutely insane performance. Its all about reamer design etc.
