Congrats!!! Just about slocked one that size here in NM yesterday morning but didn't quite get it done

My first bull elk hunt ever. I have been a rifle hunter for about 8 years but now I have the archery bug. I bought a bow a month ago and have been practicing almost every day at 20-60 yards. Went to CO for a Friday-Monday hunt and saw/heard nothing for 2 days. On Sunday they started bugling and we pinpointed 3 bulls. About 200 yards away, we see the herd bull, no less than 340" mammoth! We tried to call him out, but he wasn't interested in leaving 20 cows to come check on us. This satellite bull was keen and our set up was perfect. He walked right into my shooting lane and I had a 12 yard shot while I was sitting down on a rock! Double lunged him and a full pass through. He piled up 95 yards from where I shot him. My first bull elk, and nothing short of a perfect bull!

I was blessed to get this during first archery hunt in New mexico. 8th day. Almost 90 degrees and full moon everyday

@ballplyr6 I think I saw your post on Facebook on the NM page. And fairly certain you were in the unit that I'm getting ready to hunt in October. Would you be interested in DM'ing me and giving me some pointers? It's like a 0.01% chance to draw that unit non-residents.

I have harvested 3 elk in my western hunting career. This is my first bull. Couldn’t be happier with the stalk, the bull and the company.

Made a trip out to Idaho last week and was able to take my 3rd archery DIY bull. Also picked up the skull from my 2017 hunt! My buddy hand painted it.
