Elk .... Let's see them!!!

@mdeerjunkie Thanks. I won't get a bull, just have a cow tag, but hopefully I will get one to post in this thread. I will post updates on my hunt in the thread Cow Elk Hunt WY-31 if you want to read on my hunt. @ElkFever2 is coming down and meeting me at camp tonight. He is leaving his antelope hunt to help me get an elk. I hope I get one so he doesn't miss out

Here's one of the big bulls I've taken on public land. In a hellhole. 2 days for 2 guys to pack out up through a chute in a ribbon cliff. I was younger only 55 years old. LOL
The next one I was in my early 60's. I had to pack it out myself. Cracked 3 ribs in the process. Hopefully at 68 this year I get another closer to a trail. LOL

Those are dandies! You earned them, congratulations

10/3/20 N.W. Montana. This was the first elk that I was able to call in this season, it was a really slow season for me. Was able to call my son to come and help me pack it out - good thing.

Then there's these guys looking for your elk meat while you're packing it out. This guy walked right up to me on a hunt a few years ago.
Luckily there were trees close by so pulled the bags up, and came out unscaved.now the ride the last load took off the mtn on a snow sled was another story, but it got it off the steepest part in a hurry lol

A few years a go I left my flashlight at a deer gut pile. Went back 10 minutes later to get it and the gut pile had been dragged off. It does get spooky at times. LOL
God bless.

The hard work over the years finally paid off. Opening evening oct 3rd. 300 win mag. 325 yards, herd bull 6 point. THE MULLET BULL

Suggested to my friend to take his 14 yrs old son back to the exact spot and wait for the cows and another bull. Thursday oct 8th. Out come the elk. 5point takes a dirt nap 82 yards from my gut pile.

Got to tell you I am almost as excited for Nik

I have watched a lot of bulls die and called in a pile for friends, but this is the first bull that I can call mine that I got to put my hands on. Last elk I killed was in 2002. Seems like yesterday. My buddies dad was with me in 2002 and my buddy was with me calling for this one. Made it kinda cool.
