This was central Idaho about 7 years ago middle of the day. It's very refreshing to have all this moisture so far this year and no smoke. The longer the moisture the shorter the fire season is.
We've eaten so much smoke from Oregon, Washington and California over the last 20 years it isn't funny. Not counting our own fires in Idaho.
One year we had smoke come in from Russia in the early spring.
Smoke is terrible and does a lot of damage to people, plants and the over health to the planet. Be thankful it isn't a volcano going off in your backdoor.
I'm just thankful that Jellystone keeps spitting and sputtering and I live on the west side of it. Remember most winds travel west to east across our continent.

What's the big deal?
For years I never knew the San Gabriel Mtns were a mile from my house. Then one day there they were.
Growing up in Socal in the 60's was different. On a good day the sky was yellow and the air quality was just unhealthful and a minor smog alert. Add a fire or 2 and it was brutal.
