Where their opinion applies matters a lot more than their opinion on a topic. School board, state legislators/judges/exec will all make a way larger difference in those kind of issues. Much like abortion or other third rail political topics.Unfortunately, looking at Tester's voting record I'm more worried about boys playing against my daughter in sports (and several other issues) than this issue....... It's too bad the left, even though helping our public land cause more, has gone so extreme on issues that affect my kid's future. No way in h*ll will I be voting to let Tester continue his far-left voting record.
As a grandparent I watch and keep track of Montana sports. That ain't happening! (I challenge anyone to cite one example in Montana high school sports or even in high school or college sports across the West.) If men or boys playing against girls is a major factor in this political era relative to so many real issues ... and especially public lands issues, then too much koolaid is being ingested.I'm more worried about boys playing against my daughter in sports (and several other issues) than this issue

Ya did it; ya got me! It's time to start wringing our hands and pulling our hair ... as well as a two billion dollar gender verification bill to ascertain the birth sex of any girl's volleyball team. And we better ensure that talented girl place kicker doesn't get a chance to play football with the guys.San Jose State women’s Volleyball
Nice lib response. With one example I easily prove that you’re full of shit and your answer is to tell me that I’m stupid and throw Karen-like hypothetical ridiculous scenarios….Ya did it; ya got me! It's time to start wringing our hands and pulling our hair ... as well as a two billion dollar gender verification bill to ascertain the birth sex of any girl's volleyball team. And we better ensure that talented girl place kicker doesn't get a chance to play football with the guys.
This sex based conundrum is outa hand!
I will have to check it out. Thanks for posting. I remember hearing about this a littleRecenly a new book came out, entitled The Crazies: The Cattleman, the Wind Prospector, and A War Out West. It's the story of ranchers whose land has been in the family for 150 years and whose next generations want to keep the land by continuing cattle, sheep, and ag production. In order to make ends meet they have worked on a plan for years to have wind farms augment income. The neighboring uber wealthy nonresident landowners of Crazy Mountains land have opposed the plan and sued. Montana PSC, as well as Northwestern Energy, has thrown up roadblocks. It is a debacle of frustration for Montana hard working hands-on-the-lands families, seemingly being bullied by rich and powerful entities from elsewhere who are buying up the Crazies and other Montana treasured land at an unbelievable and deplorable rate. The colorful, yet sad story makes Costner's Yellowstone seem like a nursery story.
Reality is a bitch nowadays in the Montana Treasure State!

Its awful. Exactly what I thought would happen. The filthy rich elites always get what they want. Disgusting. I predict in my lifetime the Department of the Interior and forest circus will sell out to the trillionaires and my grandkids will be servants. Steve Daines, claiming to be a good Christian-I don’t know how he sleeps at night having facilitated the transfer of God’s country to the wealthiest real estate developers on earth. US government, here to serve and protect the highest bidderSo from reading this: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/custergallatin/?project=63115 , Alternative 1 in section 2.3 (p15) added:
- Conservation easements on wetlands in the areas
- Allows for building a ski resort on transferred lands in the Inspiration Divide area, under a conservation easement.
- "The lands leaving federal ownership in the Inspiration Divide area (Parcels 8, 9, and 10)
will be protected from development by a conservation easement that will be managed by
Montana Land Reliance. The conservation easement protects open space and preserves
scenic views. The easement allows for skiing, ski resort structures and improvements, and
other appropriate outdoor recreational uses and prohibits subdivision, mineral removal,
construction of new buildings (except as allowed for recreational opportunities). This
conservation easement will be recorded at closing and is a required element of the
exchange"- Creates a proposed trail "Sweet Trunk Trail 274" from Big Timber Creek Road.
- "Ensure perpetual public access to the proposed Sweet Trunk Trail No. 274 in Parcel D by
securing an easement for about 1 mile of trail from the landowner. (The landowner will
retain the northern half of Parcel D in this alternative, as shown in Figure 5.)"- Appears to allow for 160 acre "ranchettes" on transferred lands in the Crazies, given no mention of restricting housing development.
- "The lands leaving federal ownership in Sweetgrass Canyon (Parcels 1, 2, 3 and 4) will be
placed under a deed restriction agreement monitored and enforced by the Sweet Grass
County Conservation District. The deed restriction or restrictive covenants would prohibit
subdivision into parcels under 160 acres. The deed restriction would also prohibit mineral
development and exploration (oil, gas, hydrocarbons, hardrock minerals). This deed
restriction agreement will be recorded at closing and is a required element of the exchange.
Other private lands uses such as grazing, recreation, or vegetation management would be
allowed."- It appears to have no component regarding road access to Sweetgrass Creek. Access would be hiking the new trail from Big Timber Canyon road, and that seems a long hike over rough terrain, horses probably required if hunting.
What are everyone's thoughts on this, as it seems to be a done deal? Is this something we can live with? Given my current understanding of everything, it just seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth over Sweetgrass Creek Road.
Yet you keep electing these jackwagons.
I'd recommend everyone listen to (or read) this article - 30 minutes, and worthwhile. Randy is quoted in it too.Looks like this story got picked up by NY Mag.

Book on Crazy Mountain wind farm generates insight to wealthy Montana landowners
