I previously have inherited my grandfathers 30/30,which currently has open sights. I have been told not to have it drilled for a scope as it may reduce the value of the gun. To me it is more valuable if i can hunt with it instead of having it sit in the safe and not be used. With that being said, what is the going rate to have it drilled and tapped for scope mounts? Does anyone have a reputable gunsmith in Northern Idaho that could do it for me? Thanks for any advice, would probably put a 4 power on it or possibly a 1x5. I just dont trust hunting with it w/out a scope due to my eyesight.
