Old Log Cabins & Pioneer Barns - Pictures.

I always like seeing this thread pop up, along with the "History Found in the Field" thread. I feel like this old shack that I came across on Forest Service land this weekend would count for both. A lot of old coffee cans, etc. from the 50s or 60s were laying around in this one. Some newer plastic items hint that it may have seen some use more recently. Either way, it was cool to see and amazing to me that all of the stuff at this site was hauled up through a good bit of steep country & nasty timber. I do wonder when this place was first built.

And how about that elk skull grown into the tree?

Had to re-read the whole thread to make sure I had not posted before. What a pleasure! Sadly, I've seen hundreds of these in my travels around the west. I was just always late for the next job and never stopped to look or photograph. Some of them are in this thread.

Here are a few taken as I've learned to slow down and experience the lands I pass through.

Two from SE NV Mormon country. 10 miles from Bundy central. Near Mesquite, NV.

OK - Not a building. This old Dodge sits on our property. There are old skid roads and narrow gage roadbeds on our place from when Potlatch Corp slicked all this area in the early 1900's. There is also an old combine from when some poor soul cleared the stumpage and tried to grow wheat.
