Here are a couple of pictures of some skull mounts from our 2003 bucks. Top left is mine, middle is Dad's, on the right is one a buddy got and did himself, and the bottom one was the one my Missus got. Some people don't care for the skull mounts but I think it gives a better size reference then just the skull cap. To each his own.

my wife won't go for the bare bone look for the bucks i display in the house, but i think it looks rellay good.
