Death Valley Vacation?

My wife and I are thinking about going to Death Valley National Park over spring break. The plan is to fly into Las Vegas and rent a car. Any tips or places we must see/hike while in the park? Where would you stay? We are thinking 3 days in the park and a day on each end in Vegas.

We have stopped at the CrowBar Cafe several times; Shoshone, just outside the south end of the park. Good food. Interesting area for mining in past times.

Just a few miles from Death Valley is Beatty and you could look for desert sheep right there. Can see them almost anywhere, even right from town
