Ohio but my heart is always in the woods
for Screamin Reel.

He went to the first session for the Job Corps. Elkchsr recommended us check that out and we did. It sounds like it would be a great experience for him if he gets in.

He had to put in for 3 places and job descriptions and he chose Dayton, Ohio (1 Ohio is a must),a site in Indiana and 1 in Wisconsin.

Plus he was the only 1 of all the applicants that had all the stuff he was supposed to have taken in today for the session. Kudos to Vipe for that.

If he meets their criteria and a place is open it can be anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months for him to be accepted.

I hope he does get in...it would be a real good thing for him.

The best part is the Job Corps will be feeding him if he gets hired......So what are you gonna do with all that extra grocery money?

Job Corps is a great opportunity for any young person who needs it and can get in. I work at the Centennial Job Corps Center in Idaho so I'm kinda biased but it is a super program.

I'm not familiar with job corps. What's it about? A job presumedly.

Mojave, the Job Corps is the owner of the white school bus that used to show up once a month and wreak havoc on the salad bar at the local steakhouse during my burger-flippin' years.

Man, I dreaded seeing that white bus...it was like being on the Pequod and seeing Moby Dick.

Good luck, SR! What occupation are we hoping for?

I was in Job Corps in the 70s for concrete. My dad was a finnisher so I knew what I was doing but it got me in the Union, which I couldn't do by myself. It's a good place to get a start. Lots of money in software (computer) security if he can go that route.

Best of luck young man....and good luck to the parents also. Letting a child leave the nest can be a little anxious.... I know that Vip can handle it, but I'm worried about Nut...

Well best of luck to him Fred...
I am glad that I could have been a help, even if only in a small way. I sure hope he makes a good go of it...

One out of the nest..
A couple more to go....

All in all I will miss him alot.

I hope the best for my oldest son. I had mixed emotions after Vipe called me at work to tell me the news. I was elated for him and also got teary eyed at him going to be away for a time.

I would have liked to send him to a college but for the circumstances of finances (and other things I wont discuss in respect to my boy) I believe this will be a excellant opportunity for him to move forward into adulthood.

I will miss him quite alot.

I think I will be driving 150 miles south once a month also.

I'll lend you some advice I was given by very smart man (Dad to me!

) when I was leaving home. "Women and beer will cost you more money and get you in more trouble than anything."

Good luck to him! Hope he is able to live out his wildest dreams!
