Craps - My addiction - Anyone else?

Live poker is its own creature. The players are playing each other with the casino taking rake of each pot. Skill in poker is much more valuable than the other poker games.

Blackjack has good odds, especially if you can count cards. It’s hard to find single or double deck games. The power of counting cards is diminished with 6 and 8 deck games. I always find it hard to make any big money in blackjack unless you’re playing a high dollar table.

Craps is craps. It’ll bankrupt you in minutes or buy you a car in a few lucky hours. I play conservatively, if that’s possible, and only play the Line and Come bets with max odds unless odds bets are unlimited. Crap odd bets are paid at true odds. It’s where I made most of my money. I don’t place my money anywhere else on the board. Craps is absolutely my favorite casino game. I realize I’m dancing with a drunken whore when I play. Sailor beware.

Best way mathematically to play and have the smallest EV loss playing.

Not much of a gambler myself but when I’m somewhere like Deadwood or Vegas, Craps is by far my favorite live game. Once had a buddy with a hot hand roll a guy $3000 in profit, the bouncers came and checked his ID and his dice multiple times and he just kept rolling hot, it was fun to watch!

This. Not much of a gambler myself, but a good craps table with some characters, and someone on a heater can be a really fun time.
My wife prefers to play Roulette. She's pretty low risk. It's still fun and she usually manages to win enough to cover the seafood buffet.

I’ve dabbled in craps a bit, and it’s one of the most exciting games when the table is hot. There’s nothing quite like being part of a winning streak with a crowd cheering around you. That said, I’ve also had nights where my bankroll disappeared way too fast. Nowadays, I mostly stick to online casinos since they offer better bonuses and let me play on my own time.

I'm not much of a gambler, but I think the only time I ever actually came out ahead was playing war at the Hard Rock while my buddies were losing at craps and blackjack, I bought dinner for the group that night :ROFLMAO:

I enjoy these interpretations of “math” and “statistics” but I don’t think these terms mean what some of you think. Poker games where play each other around a table allow the wolves to fleece the sheep.

Everyone at all other casino games are sheep. Counting cards at blackjack is just not a thing with multi-decks and frequent dealing. Jerking your bets up and down will result in more frequent dealing.

The average gambler feels they are luckier than the average gambler. This is shown in studies. Thus, the odds are distorted in most gambler’s heads as they “know” the game they play has losing odds for gamblers but since they are lucky and have a “system” in place to push their odds into “usually” win then get then get the wheelbarrow ready!!

Poker allows 1% of players around the table to make a living separating 99% of players from their money.

There are no professional gamblers making a living anywhere else in the casino. Sure, there are gamblers having an amazing night at the craps table or at blackjack or roulette. They are not repeating that night after night no matter the size of the starting bankroll. Statistics do not care if you bet $1 or $1,000 or vary your bets.

Math wins in the long run. You pay the tax when confuse reality with your confidence in your upcoming luckiness.

Of course, if you discover irregularities in the design of the playing cards or have inside information on deficiencies in the software programming of the gambling machine or sneak in loaded dice then that is not really math that is available to others.

You are pretty much correct that there is no such thing as a professional gambler. There are a few exceptions and a few schemes that do create professional gamblers but there are very few people that can actually do this.

What there can be however though is strategies and schemes that can allow any person to at least break even. This is possible due to casino comp programs.

Take this craps discussion for example. The gold standard 3 point molly strategy provides a casino house edge less than 1%. Your play can be rated and the resulting comps in free bets, drink, food and hotel rooms can pretty easily push you into net profit. Depending on the location and casino will determine how easy that is to do but generally it's not hard to play with a strategic strategy to take advantage of it.

My brother is on a counting cards at blackjack deal. He is a pilot and played poker on layovers for years and actually kept a spreadsheet to calculate his hourly earnings at poker. Some ups and downs but it ended up somewhere just under $10 an hour with over a thousand hours played. Not going to pay the bills but better than most other things he could do on layovers that would involve spending money instead of earning it.

So far the blackjack card counting thing hasn't paid off, but it isn't costing him much. He retired last year so it is more of something to do than trying to actually make any money at it.
