I did wonder about the use of UV light for sanitizing. Any know about this?

In general, medical/industrial quality UV light does a pretty good job with flat smooth hard surfaces like table tops. Less so on other surfaces. Can't be used at all for hands, etc. I have not seen data specifically directed at this particular strain of coronavirus. Cheapo novelty "black lights" are worthless.

Though 2 days old, this chart helps me put into perspective some of the stats we’ve seen, and give them context.

Piles and piles of data sets here at ourworldindata

I see low testing numbers like that and then see articles like below saying Ohio may already have 100,000 undiagnosed cases and it makes me wonder if CV is much more present here than many of us know.

Even if it's not 100,000, it's certainly not only the few confirmed cases

While some continue to focus on the death rate and the fact that the majority are going to be exposed anyway, it's important to understand that the need for social distancing is to slow the spread and reduce impacts to the healthcare system. These two links get at that point:

I found this site, copied then realized it got posted a couple of hours ago. Here it is again, it tracks the timeline vs cases, deaths, recoveries very well. Kinda sobering.

Interesting article. Very preliminary research, but several researchers independently seeing the same patterns that look like asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people may be driving infection rates more than previously thought. If that’s true, I wonder if we’ll see more stringent social distancing practices enacted by local governments.

I went out ice fishing today, only guy on the lake. We have plenty of TP around here......for now.

Schools closed for 2 weeks, I can't decide if this was a wise or unwise decision. Concerned for my grandparents and my sister who lives in Milwaukee, guess it's like chaos down there trying to get stuff

My personal concerns, obviously health of my family, friends and everyone in general. My mom is 63 works in a hospital in NJ, I talked to her on Friday and she pretty much said it's a matter of time before it makes it into the hospital. Worried about her. The community I live in in eastern NM has a lot of seniors I'm hoping being out in the country provides a buffer at the same time worried about everyone making into town for supplies if there are any and not getting sick in the process.

On the other hand I'm almost more scared of people's reactions than I am the virus. If people dont stop the panic buying and hoarding and start using common sense, the panic robbing wont be far behind.
Everything here has been shut down for three weeks here. The next three weeks is crucial. If life doesn't resume after this three weeks the financial hurt will be reverberated immensely. This three weeks may already put business under and hurt many workers. Restaurants, retail, construction, office work where telework is not an option are all going to feel it. Once everyone runs out of leave if they have any, hopefully there are some savings. For the majority there is probably not.
I'm not a very religious man. I have prayed on this.

Wife works for 3 specialist surgeons in Denver, their hospital has already set up a covid 19 group and all 3 volunteered to be on it unknown to the others :-0 They only took one. They are booked out until mid May with appointments anyway. They juggle the people that have aggressive cancers or emergency cases that other docs couldn't handle, and try to get those folks to the front of the line, but the docs are already overworked.

All the ski resorts shut down as of tonight. I've been reading most of the links provided elsewhere, I think things are going to get real in a little bit. All the docs take it real serious. Governor has been trying to get in front of things but our health care system is already stretched thin with population growth. Schools, rec center, library, closed. Too many out at restaurants and bars. Maybe them too soon.

Locally I've been following https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/2019-novel-coronavirus

Oh, and we know one infected person but not a close friend, just someone we know. Stay healthy, good time for lots of reloading.
