Cool Find

Calcium chloride would take care of that ice. Melt it or make it rotten. When I did remote concrete jobs far from the plant I would take a bag of cc to the job site and mix it in the load after the mixer truck arrived. I'd mix it with water in a 5 gallon bucket then dump it into the mixer. It would make the water in the bucket steam.

OK, it's been hours now and you should be done...what does it look like :)

Yo

Super letdown!!! I tried the fire idea and as the fire was burning I broke out the ax. The rest was super quick. After three or four chops I bagged the fire idea and was glad I didn’t haul any of the propane stuff down the embankment. He’s been there for a long time. The ends of the main beams are mushy. The game warden gave me the green light so now I’ve got a flower bed ornament.

I still think at one point he was a good sized bull. Just more proof that water is the “universal solvent”.

Still a cool adventure and find. I love these threads that get updated with pics...need to start one of my own.

It would of been cool to find that one in its prime. Either way, you have a neat story and it beats sitting at work any day!

Depending on how difficult it might be to get a big spud, pick axe and whatever else to the scene, I'm thinking it wouldn't take long to get this guy out. I've found that if you have a big steel spud, and can put a post hole driver over it. you can fracture a lot of ice and even rock with it. The ice would probably bust into big pieces and it wouldn't be too bad. A hatchet with your other hand supporting the rack, and tapping the remaining ice, and I'll bet you'd have it out quicker than you may think.

The more I look at those pics - I’m thinking there were some trail cameras pointing on that rack and you were the butt of some cruel joke.
