COLLEGE Football Is Almost Upon Us

Let's hope it is...would love to see the Trees beat the Ducks. Then, see LSU smoke Saban's gang and leave us FSU and OSU to play for #1. >>>Bama and Oregon can play each other during bowl week for 2nd place.

Wyo, you pegged it.....hello Briles....goodbye Oregon

The Bears proved they belong in the discussion. I wasn't sure before the game and I am an believer now. I just hope they go easy on my cowboys. The more I learn about Briles the more I like him. Guy is a class act and has earned everything he has done with teams who were not very good when he arrived on campus. He seems to always turn things around.

If you told me 5-10 years ago that Baylor would have a Heisman and would be in the NC discussion I would have thought you were crazy, now here we are.

well that oregon game didnt go as i thought...

worst game of mariotas career. would have been a great game to see him shine!

So once again Oregon falls a game short of getting to Waterford Crystal game....

Baylor may be better than I thought....that "thought" was based upon them not having really played anyone "good"....now they have but still have a couple of tests as does BAMA....FL ST and Ohio St (who hasn't and won't play anyone) have the clearest shots to big dance....and I still think ORE and Bama could take either....

I hope Bears win out....and Mich St...and Mizzou or hated Auburn.....just so we can all have some fun shouting and cursing over who goes to NCS!
Why not send N IL and Fresno just to be different?

BTW, just an idle thought----the real UT was founded in 1794 and became a Land Grant College in in 1879.....the other UT opened on 15SEP1883....anymore questions?

That thing at Neyland stadium yesterday was really a drill set up by HSA, FEMA and TN-EMA....wanted to see how fast 100,000 people could evacuate a stadium in 3rd quarter....

Hey WYO, SEC has played 130 games thru today.....we have SEVEN loses out side the conference....

Umm 14 teams playing 4 OOC games each is not 130? Not sure where you are getting your info.

If you want to talk about OOC wins then lets talk about Arky losing to Louisiana monroe last year, or Rutgers this year. LEts talk about the vols getting blown out by Oregon. Lets talk about Georgia getting beat by Clemson. LEts talk about Miss st getting beat by Okie St. Etc... In a few weeks we will be talking aobut Florida getting beat by FSU.

So you still think the SEC is unbeatable?
I tend to thingk that Bama is really good but beyond that not so much. Teams like Florida and Georgia don't seem that great like they usually are. LSU has 3 losses already.

I'd talk more trash about Arky being bad and having the 3rd higherst paid coach in the country but spook can't handle it. He likest to talk about OU and OSU and bring up historic records but the moment you bring up the hogs he stops repsonding. I think the term is "likes to dish it out but can't take it." Whats wrong Spook? You sure got quiet all the sudden

That's what I like about you Tom. The Vols can be terrible and get blown out but you still want to talk about SEC supremacy. Living vicariously through Alabama, an SEC tradition. I do think the vols are getting better. They are recruiting well and should be much better in the coming years. takes a while to recover form Kiffin. now USC is learnign that lesson, theya re already getting better as well. Kiffin is cancer to a program. His dad is doing the same thing to the Dallas Cowboys defense this year. I fell sorry for whoever hires that guy next.

So is the SEC is so good why are aTm and Mizzou doing so well in the SEC? They were not that good in the Big 12 and hadn't won the confernece since the 90's. Mid level Big 12 teams= upper level SEC teams? Doesn't make sense.

I'd talk more SEC tash but honesly the Big 12 is having it's worst year in history. Baylor is really the only good team. I hope this doesn't last but it's hard to swallow right now. Was glad to see tUT get the win at WVU last night. Real entertaining game. Curious to see if tUT names a new head coach or lets Mack stick around for another year.

since he's duck hunting again, will handle this one. he never said they had played 130 OOC games. you changed it to that. he said 130 games. period. and have lost only 7 outside the conference. you'll have to look up how many OOC games the sec has played.

GO ILLINI!!!

Well since you are confused I will attempt to help you understand how this works. I am dubtful that you will becasue of what happened last time on this thread get it but here goes. Try to not make a fool of yourself this time.

SEC plays 4 OOC games each for 14 teams, thats 56 games. Tom said they had played 130 games and only lost 7 OOC. Extremely misleading since you are counting all conference gmaes as wins when in reality a conference game is a win and loss for the conference. I simply pointed out that there were not 130 OOC games. In reality according to Toms #'s of the 130 games there would have been 81 losses (7 OOC and 74 Conference) in those 130 games if you assumed that all OOC games had been played and counted the confernce games as a loss and win which is how the games work for the two teams involved. In reality they have still not played all their OOC games but will in the next few weeks. Here is how the mighty SEC did agains thier top 11 OOC oppnents according to sagarin. They won all the easy games against lower renked teams except for Arky and Kentucky (the bastard children of the SEC) losing to Rutgers#84 and Western Kentucky#96. Against quality competetion the SEC is 3-5:eek: I see at least 2 more likely losses in that group as well. They will likely finish 4-7 against quality teams. SEC SEC SEC SEC. Oh wait. I agree that Bama is absoultely amazing, beyonf Bama the rest of the confernece is not that impressive and all but 1 have multiple losses including the mighty Georgia and Florida. I Agree taht until somebody beats theSEC in a NC game they are king but when yo dig into the numbers as you can see below they are far from invincible.

SEC
1. Florida State: Florida (Not yet played)
4. Oregon: Tennessee (59-14 LOSS)
12. Clemson: Georgia (38-35 LOSS)
12. Clemson: South Carolina (Not yet played)
17. Oklahoma State: Mississippi State (21-3 LOSS)
18. Louisville: Kentucky (27-13 LOSS)
25. Georgia Tech: Georgia (Not yet played)

27. Virginia Tech: Alabama (35-10 WIN)
31. Texas: Mississippi (44-23 WIN)
32. Miami, FL: Florida (21-16 LOSS)

Here is how the SEC did agaisnt the crap teams that they play including FCS. They should win every one of these but still managed to lose 2. Just read through there and you wil see there is no glory in beating those teams. Heck the #3 team on that list is a mid major directional schol in North Texas. Any tems worse than North Texas are not a quality win IMO. The teams with ranking below 100 are just terrible and primarily FCS teams who the SEC likes to beat up on.

45. Washington State: Auburn (31-24 WIN)
48. North Carolina: South Carolina (27-10 WIN)
57. North Texas: Georgia (45-21 WIN)
58. Indiana: Missouri (45-28 WIN)
62. Toledo: Florida (24-6 WIN)
62. Toledo: Missouri (38-23 WIN)
64. Bowling Green: Mississippi State (21-20 WIN)
68. TCU: LSU (37-27 WIN)
69. Louisiana-Lafayette: Arkansas (34-14 WIN)
70. Rice: Texas A&M (52-31 WIN)
83. Florida Atlantic: Auburn (45-10 WIN)
84. Rutgers: Arkansas (28-24 LOSS)
89. Sam Houston State: Texas A&M (65-28 WIN)
90. Wake Forest: Vanderbilt (Not yet played)
92. Colorado State: Alabama (31-6 WIN)

"Tom said they had played 130 games and only lost 7 OOC. Extremely misleading."

you mean like the other guy who did the same thing? nothing misleading about Toms comment. he stated clearly the teams in the sec had played 130 games. FACT. only a fool would think they had played 130 out of conference games. FACT. or try and say that's what he said. he then stated they had 7 out of conference losses. FACT. he never said a word about conference losses. FACT. nothing misleading at all. unless it was over your head? try and change it all you want. all your copy and paste means nothing. we know what he said and what he meant. this should take care of your confusion. FYI - it would be easier to make heads or tails out of your posts if the words weren't so butchered. the red line under the word means it's spelled wrong. " I am dubtful that you will becasue"

GO ILLINI!!! beat somebody........in conference.

Oh boy the Illinois spelling police. That is funny.

I figured you would not understand even if I listed every game for you. You were wrong on the first go around and you are still worng. I find it funny that you still pretend you are right. The first step is admitting you were wrong.

LSU is the last SEC team other than Bama to play in a NC game.

I listed every SEC NC game so there is no question about how may have been played and who won. Nothing to debate. The records speak for themselves.

The point is that is you want to talk about NC losess then use the total of NC games instead of listing every conference game as well. Pretty simple for most people to understand.

Guess you wil have to find someone else to have an internet fight with and do your internet tough guy act on. Do you ever notice how you never have a point or bring any information to the discussion. You just jump in the middle of somethign to try and start a fight. I remember last time you were telling me how you would tell me to my face like a true internet tough guy. Keep up the good work.

I guess I see why then call you people the "fighting Illini"

You will notice that when Tom and I and the others on this board talk we talk about schools or conferences. You like to go straight to the personal talk. Try that sometime and use some information to make a point.

Tom brought up the SEC and a record. I pointed out that there were less than 50 conference games played for those 7 losses not 130 games played for the 7 losses. Then you jumped in and I did my best to explain my point. A repeat of your last meltdown where you were proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt and refused to admit you were wrong. Did you notice how nobody ever said you were right about that. Yea that pretty much sums it up.

Thanks for turning a fun conversation of conference trash talk into something nobody wants to comment on becasue of you.

Now for your predictable response. Feel free to tell me how you are right one more time so we can put an end to this derailed discussion about college football that is now about you, again. I'm out.
