Well, i cross posted my cartridge poll on 3 different forums.
The overwhelming winner was the 280AI.

Now the twist.

My friend wants to do a 284 Win build on a Mauser action.
When he went to a not so local shop that had many of them at a good price, they were sold out.
He ended up buying a new Savage Axis II to do his build. But he really wants a Mauser action.
Sooooo....

I'm taking the B&C stock off MY 284 Win build (Whitworth Mark X action) and swapping on the wood stock from my Alpine Mauser.
Then i am trading the Alpine Mauser for the Axis II.

The Axis II, i will build into a 280AI.

Since he was planning on getting a Douglas barrel anyways. And the "bluing" on the Alpine looks like black paint. I convinced him to send the action to Douglas and have them install the barrel & blue the whole works so they match.

More updates later.

Good lord all that makes my head hurt.
Oh, and it doesn't stop there!

The friend that gave me the 2 Mausers, called the other day.
He wants the rifles back.

Ya can't make this stuff up!

So now my friend that is doing the 284 Win build, will be doing it on his Savage Axis II.

Which leaves me searching for an action to do the 280AI build.

Egads!!

I greatly appreciate the thought!
I don't own a Remington yet.

I'll probably stick with what i know and do the 280AI on a Savage Axis II action.

Not the prettiest, but light & stiff.
And easy to work on in the basement. Lol

In reading @blackbeard thread with a light weight rifle, i'm aiming my build towards that.

Sportsmans Warehouse is having a good sale on Axis rifles. So i'm going to buy 2.
Ok, maybe 3.
:geek:

Axis action.
Douglas 24" sporter barrel, fluted. One in 280AI, one in 25-06.
I'm talking with the stock builder that's doing my bench rest stock, on how light can we make a laminate stock that will hold up.
Rifle Basix trigger.
EGW 20MOA one piece picitinny rail.
Vortex Viper aluminium rings (discontinued, but i stocked up on a couple)

Scope, i'm torn on. I like MOA reticles. Will have to do some research on scope weights.
I like my Sightron Field Target 4-12X40, except for the adjustable objective.

Leaning towards the Crimson Trace Hardline.
