Bullet holes in paper

Thought I would post this here as I think I have the best chance of getting a true answer. While shooting yesterday I noticed that the bullet holes had a black ring on the paper almost like carbon or oil was on the bullet when it went through the paper. I do not recall this happening in the past (no I don't shoot holes in paper much). Can anyone explain? Tikka T3 in .270WSM and .270Win. Both rifles cleaned meticulously to remove copper fouling a few weeks ago. Shooting a mix of ammo so not manufacturer specific.

I'm no expert, but I feel like I've seen that a bunch of lead tipped old school ammo. Never thought twice about it.

Possibly burnt paper? I see it all the time.

It's pretty common on my targets.
Here is a target of mostly 22lr with (3) shots from a 22-250 I was able to tell they are the 3 with the grey ring.

I think the holes can be different based on shape and the pressure might be getting powder burn residue. Someone with more intelligence would probably answer this question better.

The lead point explanation seems the most probable.

Lead pointed bullets, as well as some hollow points will do that. The ring is lead.

i don’t think so. My polymer tipped lead bullets and mono copper bullets do it as well.
