First elk; the pack doesn't look substantial but I had a front shoulder+neck meat+backstraps and tenderloins in the pack. I will never try packing that much weight again.

I've got a habit of shooting pronghorn in the wrong location. Oak left me with the light load while he played Sherpa across the sage flats of Wyoming.

I'll be completely gray by the time I get to pack my own ram out of the Breaks. Psinclair had to leave that morning, or we would have granted him the honors of hauling the horns and full body cape. I drew the short straw, or maybe I was just the youngest guy in the group.

This one requires two photos explain why this December fork-horn North Dakota archery buck is one of my proudest hunting accomplishments. Buschy has yet to convince me of the need to return for another bout of this sort of self-abuse.

Add a 20+ mph wind to that temp and you've got prime conditions for B&C snotcicles. To think Dink and Khunter slept in a wall tent during that stretch makes me feel like a puss.

I haven't posted here much but I really enjoy this site! None of the normal BS encountered on most forums! Great pictures and thread idea! These are a picture my dad took as my best friend and I headed up from his last day buck, and one I took after my solo bull from last season!

This is my hunting buddy on our first elk trip ever in '13. We had an outtfitter set up to come in and pack our elk out from a pre-arranged location. The outtfitter apparently didn't have much faith in 4 flatlanders on our first elk trip. We killed 3 bulls and a cow. They didn't come in with enough horses to get it all out and my buddy had to pack his out on his own.

There has been way to many long threads that evolve into politics lately. Must be an election year. I lose interest in those threads and stop clicking on them after about one page so I am reviving this old thread just for the fun of it and put some hunting back into Hunt Talk.

My son got this bull a few miles back form the nearest road a few years ago. Got him right before dark. It was a late night of breaking him down and the the next morning we packed him out with help of a few friends. It was a great time to be a dad.

I have always respected hunters that hike in to some remote canyon and pack their buck out on there back. In my opinion this method of hunting is the apex of DIY. A set of antlers on a back pack can make for a great picture. Would be nice to see a bunch of pictures of hunters getting it done with a backpack.

I took this buck close to twenty years ago on the second weekend of the season. Hunted him four days. I didn't see a deer the first three days. In the afternoon of the fourth I was setting on a rock when I spotted him sneaking through the junipers 300 yards below me.

A friend and I went back in the next day and packed him out. He took this picture when we took a rest at the top of the hill. One of my all time favorite hunting pictures.

I am sure that are lots of other great backpack pictures so post them up.
