Brooks talks on his bull

I don’t see the problem here other than the social media bragging. Sounds like it was a pretty tough hunt to me if it took that long with that many people.
Idk what elk eat but a deer under a corn feeder is just as hard to stick an arrow in as one under an oak tree. I will say it’s more rewarding killing one under an oak tree but if it’s the end of season and I am after a particular buck that will be going down hill next year I will have no shame shooting him over bait. If I had to apply for years to draw a tag I certainly would do what it took to fill the tag.

Did you read the article? 😳

That’s a bit dramatic. Baiting doesn’t guarantee an animal will come to the bait in daylight.
This isn’t a classic hunt and wouldn’t be enjoyable for most. But I’d rather a person kill the bull with archery gear than have it die of old age. I’ve whitetail hunted in the burbs and learned to pick up my bow when I heard car horns honk. That meant deer were crossing the paved road. Not real exciting, but made for good sport after work.
This made me chuckle I wish I had a horn go off when there are deer incoming. Fantastic.

I'd be more proud of any of the bulls GH has killed in Montana over that bull. mtmuley

Never have understood the phobia with an animal dying of old age...

What a beauty! I wonder how old it was? Genetics & age with good feed and less stress help grow bulls like this. I would guess his age at 8-10+?

This bull deserved a better hunt than this! Had the game cameras not been allowed I believe this bull would have made it.

I think about what it took for this bull to survive and not be seen for so long, amazing!

Clown show 🤡 hunters and their teams are what make this a sad story.

I would guess 10-12 but I'd like to know as well. This did make me think a bit about what is "free range" hunting. I wonder how much this animal gained from being spoon-fed alfalfa and apples in a neighborhood? At what point does an animal become more farm critter than wild? The best thing we have done from a hunting perspective in AZ has been outlawing game cameras. So much of our opinions on methods are relatively arbitrary, but game cameras are one that are objectively and clearly not fair chase, in my estimation.

I don't understand how the "world's greatest elk hunter" could be satisfied with this hunt, I can't understand feeling anything but shame from it. Grown men and women seeking validation through inches-of-horn is just bizarre and perverse to me (and this is from someone who loves looking at big animals and pursues the most mature critters he can).
