I think the UP may be the drunkest and possibly the most obese as well. At least back in the 80s, they were really in a bad way up there. Not sure that has changed. Regardless, it is not a point I would brag about, however.

I notice on my drives to the brewery down the road from my place that I often pass a half dozen different fit young ladies running with their dogs. It’s probably so they can sustain the “8 drinks per week” definition of heavy drinker while still maintaining smoke show status. Sounds like the drinking is one thing that isn't going to hell in Bozeman, oh and the scenery seems to be holding up too. Those are the things that I liked most about it 45 years ago.

Sixty years ago during the not-so-sober sixties, college life in Bozeman involved imbibing at the Stockman, Little Johns, Barmuda Triangle and other joints much too often!
I dig that pic of you and your buddies cruising beer in hand! That could / should hit a museum.

Yes, the privilege of cruising around in Minerva, our 1917 White YNP touring bus seems like a distant dream now. I joke that the driver could only have one beer per half hour!

My son just moved into his small 550 square foot studio apartment last week. Rent, not including utilities, is $2100. F$@cking ridiculous.

It's one of the newer buildings near downtown. He looked at three different ones all in the same price range. The rent is $1900, the extra $250 is utility (excluding power/gas) fees and parking fee. I personally don't think he spent a ton of time looking for a cheaper option but at 23, he's making his own decisions. Recently got out of the marines, so the GI bill is paying tuition plus a stipend.
