Big ol Burban

Work got canceled so I had time to make the air intake today. No commercial or factory options worked so fabricated was the best option. Ordered some 4” .125 wall aluminum tubing, some 90 degree silicone bends, and a new K&N filter. I also had to weld on a new mass air flow port and 3/8 vacuum line. Turned out pretty good, I am happy with it. I may try and fab up a housing for the filter to draw more cold air. Time will tell if that happens, it could be unnecessary if the air intake temps are good while we are driving.

Underhood temps can get pretty hot. Any kind of housing to intake air from outside would be much cooler than under hood.

The original K&N cold air intake or the GM factory intake pulled hair thru the fender. The thing is they really are not cold air as the fender has several openings into the engine bay. So it pulls air past the fender skin but it is still the same air from the engine bay.

There was a small plastic tunnel that hooked the radiator support to the inner fender for air. I did not reinstall it as it really didn’t do anything. If there was plugs for the rest of the holes it would have. But air takes the easiest route and the 3” square hole next to the air intake hole will fulfill the easiest route.
