Best States to Live in During a Nuclear Apocalypse

I don't think the study took into account the likelihood of a state actually being a target. For instance, Boeing has a large fighter aircraft, drone, and weapons manufacturing in St. Louis yet Missouri ranks high in the survivability study. After Washington DC, the next nukes would be dropped on weapons manufacturing facilities. Hawaii is listed as high but the odds of a nuke being dropped on it would be low.

yeah, they entirely ignored whether or not you get vaporized right away.

you live in a state with big cities, silos, and bases... you're toast. western states have a lot of some combo of these.

i'm toast.

Garbage metrics.

Any state harboring ICBMs will be a likely first strike target, let a lone second and third strike.

Most of Wyoming would be okay, but all the hate towards Cheyenne would come to fruition as it be gone in the event of a strike. But with that comes the decimation of I-25 and the front range of Commi-rado..... jussst might be worth letting one slip in. As long as I get a heads up of course.

"California, the Golden State, is third (lowest) on the list with a score of 38.24. Its densely populated urban areas and reliance on external resources pose significant challenges.

The lack of access to fresh water and food, coupled with high population density, makes it a potentially dangerous place during an apocalypse. Residents might be better off moving to quieter states to increase their chances of survival.

Additionally, the state's strict gun laws resulted in a forty-sixth rank for access to weapons, which could be a disadvantage in a survival situation."

Yea the author or Ai thinks all Californians just live in dry cities with no guns. Plenty of hill people up here in the mtns with access to lots of resources. Feeling pretty good about our odds actually. The city people will clog the roads and run out of electricity in their cars before they can escape the hell holes they live in.

People with the false hope of surviving a nuclear strike is laughable. Those metrics are junk. Things went to chit during a pandemic and compared to a nuclear disaster, a relatively small supply chain disruption. If that ever happened it would be chaos. No other way around it.

You can have your little prepper tote. Good luck with that.

Once saw an interview with Russia about this, from one of their missile silos. They said their missiles were pointed at Cheyenne, Wyoming.
We may be toast.
