Hal said that McGuaune’s friend Jim Harrison, a hell of a good writer himself, said that McGuane was the best fishing writer ever!

Has someone a hunting essay? I need one for my University and I have no great ideas. I know that this can be called a little bit cheating but need to do everything to find or to write an essay. The main topic is hunting but, I don't know what to tell and what not to tell in an essay. Should I mention killing animals, dead animals and other gross things?

I read that article in Outside magazine in August of 1978, back before the magazine became a Patagucci catalog for patchouli wearing hipsters. I was in a fire camp at the fairgrounds in Redding, California waiting to get re-assigned to another fire. Folks had dropped off old books and magazines for the firefighters to read while stuck in the 102 degree heat. Been a McGuane fan ever since. The Longest Silence is the best fishing book I've ever read. Some of his novels can get a little weird though.
