having one more year to hunt with my wife, and hunting partner of 21 years,it is a blessing to be able to hunt in the big woodsheed, called MT HOOD NATIONAL FORREST.
I would have to say my best moment in 2012 was when my wife and i welcomed our second child Ethan. He decided to show up 8 weeks early was a little bit of a scare spent 6 weeks in the hospital but is doing great now.
Best for me in 2012 was listening to my daughter learn to talk. Just hearing her say Dada was it for me.
On the hunting front, I bagged a bunch this year, mule deer, pronghorn and 2 whitetail, best memory was when I had THE 10 point coming in on a leash... wind was perfect.... he got to 60 yards and the wind swirled, felt it hit my neck, the buck locked up, didn't take another step, just turned and bolted. Tried to grunt him back in but the gig was up. If I was able to hunt that spot with a gun, I'd have a different story for ya. But if you ever hunted in the woods in Connecticut with a bow, you know a 60 yard shot just isn't in the cards. Still hunting here in January and the big guy is still showing up, just need a cold snap to keep him on his feet after 6:45am and before the horns drop.
