I carry what I need in a day pack, some times I will take the big pack, but that is usually when the snow settles in. Nice having a few extra comforts. But generally where I find myself at night is where camp gets set up.
I have found elk only really reside in about five percent of good habitat, so one needs to be moving to find where the elk have set up camp.
When you get into them, don't pressure them to much, they will just move off five miles as the crow flies and think nothing of it. Then you have to find them again...
