It was great having my oldest son home. I told him before he came up that I would take him into a little top secret brookie pond. It's on public land, high on the mountain, and requires a little hike to reach it. The fishing and scenery are out of this world, and as long as it stays undiscovered, I hope it will stay that way. This time was even better because I was able to share it with my son. Frankly, that is about as good as it gets, as far as I'm concerned.
We caught so many nice fish it was hard to choose which photos to post so I will just randomly post some from this epic trip.
My son just enjoying being there and taking it all in while fishing.
The colors on these fish make them almost look fake. They are so pleasing to look at that it's hard to put them back in the water, but we did. Now I know someone is likely to make some comment about forced perspective or long arming. I don't care, when taking fish photos, to me it's all about the fish, not the fisherman. I want the focus on the fish, I'm just lucky entity that gets to occasionally see them up close.
My son caught his fair share of beautiful brookies as well.
This one would be a "keeper" to most anyone that fishes for brook trout. However the thought of keeping it never crossed my mind. I was just glad to be there and returned him immediately back into his water world.
One last parting photo. When fishing in a place like this it is impossible to decide which is more appealing the fish or the scenery. I'm glad we didn't have to choose.
