I've been peering over the edge of the arrow building rabbit hole and am about to dive in. I'm aware of Archer's Advantage, and that program seems like a good starting point. One negative I've heard about Archer's Advantage is that it isn't the most up to date on current items.

Out of curiosity I asked Chat GPT some arrow building questions and was surprised by the breadth and depth of the answers. If I met Señor GPT in the archery shop I'd be very impressed.

Would a few of you with proven arrow set ups mind querying Chat GPT with your own info and seeing how close AI gets to the metrics of your arrow-build? I started my query with "Can you help me build an arrow?" and it guided me from there. Curious to see how accurate it can be. Even more curious to see how it compares to Archer's Advantage.

Open to any other suggestions for calculators and such.

Really just the same reason dudes pour over reloading data and test different recipes instead of buying Core-Lokt off the shelf. Ballistics and the effects of subtle changes are fun to tinker with.
I know where you’re trying to go with your analogy, but it’s apples to oranges and doesn’t really address what my question was.

Are you looking for the fastest velocity, heavier/lighter arrow, more foc, more/less gpi arrow, or what? The answer to these questions, like my first question, would better help folks help you.

That’s fair. Not sure yet. In the past I’ve just bought whatever length and spline gave me good enough accuracy. Trying to explore my options and find a starting point for a build that’s a nice blend of the variables you mentioned. I’d also like to explore what the tradeoffs are when adjusting those variables.

If it comes back with legit information on self proven tactics, it gets us closer to trusting the information it provides on untried tactics.

I did some weight/speed testing a few years ago to dial in my setup. Most folks would say that it’s not enough weight variation to matter, but I saw a big difference. I never wanted to use anything other than regular diameter arrows. I use Gold Tip arrows and have been very happy with them. Broad brush here, but I would venture to say any name brand arrow that is correctly spine for your setup should treat you well.

Just pick a weight/speed you want to shoot for and assemble components to get you as close to accomplishing your goals.

Seems like a much better starting point to get questions answered than search engines anymore. Google et al got ruined by steering users to sites trying to link to junk from Amazon. Monetization made most of the internet a big heaping pile of garbage.
I'm not that high tech. mtmuley

Give it a go sometime. I was dubious at first but it’s actually pretty neat.

In light of current affairs I spent some time the other night getting concise explanations on subjects such as US trade balances by sector and quality of state school systems vs dollars spent per pupil. It’d have taken me a bit of sifting to find that stuff on my own.

I’m exploring the paid version which allows you to upload documents which it will then read and summarize or answer questions about. It’s pretty interesting what it can do.

Heck, we use it to ask a bunch of baby raising questions without having to sift through junk to find an answer. This child will the the first generation of AI assisted parenting.

This is incredibly helpful. Nice to shift some variables and see what effect they have on one another. Thanks! Have you had this guy build you arrows, per chance?
No I have not. He just made that spreadsheet live here not too long ago and posted it over on rokslide. I enjoy arrow building/tinkering too much to let others do it.
