A friend of mine from back east, his dad, and 2 others all drew the combo tag. They're looking for an outfitter to go after elk and deer as a secondary. I don't think they're looking for a $12k Cablelas hunt or a $15k Turner ranch hunt and since those were the only outfitters I used while I lived there I'm not much help. Anybody around here used an outfitter in MT or know of a good one for a reasonable price?

Isn't there a member here that's a guide in MT?

Yea there was, he got his client a heck of a bull last year but he has not posted for a while. Go back in the history and do a search. That doesn't mean he would guide in the area that their tag is good for, and a lot more archery areas went to a draw.

The guy I know has at least one week open which is the last week of archery. Usually I would think that would be a bad week, but out there the rut is still roaring and it is sometimes one of the the best weeks to hunt it. Anymore I love going out there the last week. Let me know if they are thinking about it. I can put them in touch with him.

I guess my inquiry on his behalf was for naught. One of the guys knows a guy in Melrose that guides rifle hunters and they're going with him. Thanks for the input guys.

Lucky you, Lawnboy! I don't know much about Melrose, hopefully they do well.

I hunt elk and deer near Melrose every year. Definitely game in the area, not sure it'd be my pick for an outfitted hunt though.
