Anyone hunting wolves?

Just wondering how many are getting out and if you are seeing sign?

I had a chance today to do some coyote hunting with the hopes of seeing some wolves. Turns out we saw more wolf sign than coyotes. We cut these tracks along with 2 others cruising down a wind blown 2 track. They looked like either last night or early this morning. This was the big track and the two others were smaller. We saw signs of people either coyote hunting or wolf hunting which is good. Amazing how close to ranch houses these were about 800 yards. This guy was dragging a toe or something. You can see the line in the snow. I have no doubt if you could put a few mornings in a row glassing the sage hillsides you'd find these guys. They were following a group of elk. What a great opportunity we finally have to hunt wolves. Never thought the day would come.

Yeah, wolf news travels fast, and your pics and stories travel even faster. Didn't want to let the cat, or wolf, out of the bag, so thought I would let you tell the folks the story.

My Bro-in-law missed the only wolf we have had in close..Been callin coyotes and hopin for a wolf..Called in a half grown mountain lion yesterday morning..pretty cool

No that was a guy that I went out with. I wish i would of taken a picture of his predator gun. He goes to these coyote derbys and is sponsored by some companies to shoot their product. It was a Christiansen Arms Ar-15 in a 204? caliber I think. It had a carbon fiber barrell and some custom Kings camo on it. He also had a fancy Leupold scope as well. That gun really sent the bullets flying fast. Would of loved to chase a wolf up a hillside flinging lead out of that thing.

Since my Superbowl predictions went down the tubes when Baltimore lost, I make this prediciton.

By February 15th, at least two more Hunt Talkers will kill a wolf. You read it here.

When I get back from the next round of trade shows, I have the last two days of season for my own wolf pursuits. If I spend those days hunting wolves, I might be a pelt on the wall when Mrs. Fin is done with me. I am not above begging, and she is always so accomodating, I hope to at least get the morning hunts on those two days.

Save some quota for me, boys.

Yeah, especially since I will be out of town for our anniversary, which is the 11th. Thinking I might be in the deep stuff if I even think about a morning wolf hunt, let alone actually make the ask.

Aright what kind of chores do I need to go over and do so that we can go when you get back? Why don't you sabatoge the dryer vent again and I'll come save the day I'll request 2 morning wolf hunts instead of those awesome ginger snap cookies she gives me.....Man that would be a sacrafice.

I smell an inn somewhere. I wish I was that confident. I've spent many weeks in the West Fork of the Root, and have come to the conclusion that the quota couldn't be filled if the Navy Seals came and hunted there.

Shoots have you tried over the hill in the Bighole? The terrain is much easier and the wolves are there. You might have to go knock on a few doors but I doubt you'll get much resistance.
