Anyone else crying.......

Nope, as a veteran and the fact that I have three brothers who also served I have no problem with the military.

My issue is that entitlements are an interesting thing when it comes to how people think. Nobody feels they don't deserve what the government hands out but everybody else is a blood sucking leech.

My point is that we can all justify our government cheese but the fact is that the average Medicare beneficiary exceeds everything they paid in by a factor of at least ten. So why is a blank check available to medicare beneficiaries regardless of ability to pay or income level or anything and that is okay but everyone else has an "entitlement mentality"?

Nemont

the people that collect that "cheese" you talk of, do not decide what they pay in. that is decided by the government. as I said to Matt, there is a difference between those that work for those benefits, and those that get them for free.

Yeah, I know about write offs. Our small 25 bed critical access hospital In a town of 5k people wrote off $700k last year in unpaid medical expenses. Tort reform would have been awesome to help reduce medical costs but dens thought they should overhaul the whole healthcare system instead. But now it's the evil hospitals and doctors who are greedy. I don't think hospitals are the major culprit, It has more to do with INSURANCE COMPANIES.

Also, The highest users of healthcare and pharmaceuticals are on medicaid. Our weekly pharmacy prescriptions for medicaid was 5x that of the 15 other insurance companies billed COMBINED. Again, 20% of the people use 80% of the resources. I think in order to take out of the pot, you should have to put into the pot. Even if its just a few bucks.

so what. why is it your business what a businesses profits, or losses, are for the year.

Um, because they are the ones who determine how much our healthcare costs? Last time I was in the ER, I was more concerned with not dying, than with negotiating the cost of a pint of blood.
FYI, you are wrong. have family in the medical field. they do not make billions of dollars a year.

This is just the report on 1 of 3 Hospital systems in Pittsburgh. Revenues of $9 billion. Cleared something like $480 million after they paid all their expenses(including payroll)........FACT

Big FOR-PROFIT hospitals will clear millions a year. Again I feel this stems mostly from insurance companies. They dictate reimbursement, therefore hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, etc charge more to cover their cost and some when they can. I would be curious to see how much money those big hospitals pay out every year in lawsuits, and if they cleared 480 million, then they must have written off millions of dollars. But it was basically cost shifted to.....wait for it...the patient (not the insurance companies).

Actually Jose, my grandpa has a retirement that he earned through 30 plus years of working for the bureau of reclamation after serving 4 years with the Navy. He still pays premiums to keep his federal insurance. Oh, after retiring he went to work for the county as an electrical inspector for ten years. He did this so he could have a decent retirement.
You are the kind of idiot that people are scared of. But I guess you are right, he didn't earn that retirement bc someone built the roads for him to get to work and he had clean drinking water to drink and his teachers are the reason he was successful. I am guessing that you are on some sort of assistance and have no idea what SELF-WORTH is, you can send me a thank you note.

Ha ha....

Not only did he have BOTH palms out for his share of the government cheese while he was imparting you with words of wisdom, he also had every pocket he owns open, and has for the past 44 years. Hilarious.

LMAO.....

That is funny that he went to work for the County, because he knew the County would continue to raise taxes to meet unlimited pension obligations, unlike a private company that would just let their pension go bankrupt, or, cancel the retirement plan all together and leave the worker to find their own IRA plan. You might want to go read up on municipalities and their unfunded pension programs, and know that the TAXPAYERS are the ones your grandfather has BOTH his palms out waiting for more taxpayer money.

How many times a month does dear old Gramps get his palms lined by the taxpayers?

Let's see, and, please, correct me if I miss any of them....

Does he get Social Security?

Does he get a Federal Employees Retirement?

Does he get a State/Local Employees Retirement?

Does he get VA health care?

We know he gets Medicare prescriptions.

We know He gets his Federal Employees Insurance.

I am guessing your grandpappy might be an octopus if he has to keep that many different palms out....

Holy shit, I love it when a thread backfires on someone....:hump:

guess you missed this part of it?

"In addition, UPMC's investment reserve portfolio had an 18.3 percent return in fiscal 2011, with a June 30 value of $3.6 billion."

you said they made billions. but yet, you say they cleared millions. big difference.

So they made nearly $700 million just on their investment portfolio? Plus nearly $500 million on their operations? Plus writing off crazy amounts of bad debts?

I want to be a non-profit. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

If we are down to splitting hairs, I gave ONE specific example from Pittsburgh. Do the math yourself for the rest of the country...

Does he get Social Security? did he pay into the system? explain why he shouldn't get social security after paying in to it. and I'm sure you will donate what you have paid in. right?

Does he get a Federal Employees Retirement? do you have the slightest clue how this works? I do. please explain how this works. if you can. if not, we won't think you are any more stupid than we already think.

Does he get a State/Local Employees Retirement? did he pay into it? why shouldn't he get it? again, are you donating your retirement monies that you paid into?

Does he get VA health care? are you saying the veterans do not deserve this benefit?

We know he gets Medicare prescriptions. that he paid for while he was working.

We know He gets his Federal Employees Insurance. that he pays for. thought you could read. guess not.

yep, sure do. especially when I can make you look stupid without trying. go away and leave the veterans alone. sounds like this man did more than you have ever done.

you mean after all the blowing you've done about how smart you think you are, you are just realizing how good it is to be a non-profit?

For those of you advocating gridlock - like what we've got now - it sure doesn't mean the gubment isn't spending money by the truckload. It just means they're spending it while running in place. Interesting way to spend money:rolleyes: Pretty dumb if you ask me.

Rhomas - you may not be crazy but it's the extremism you're exhibiting that lost the Reps the election. And it will only continue to do so. That they keep spouting it (and expecting it to pay dividends) is crazy. Same goes for the Hradcore Dems, though there seem to be fewer of them, or at least they're tougher to spot.

People are moving off their old pillars, both to the extremes and to the middle. So long as those old pillars keep moving farther apart, the middle gets bigger and more folks occupy that space. The way of the future and the way to end the gridlock is through compromise, but I don't see that anywhere on the horizon. You want to rail against what is really bringing this country down, have at the gridlock.

Again, stupidity takes over as Jose slurs his garbage. There is a difference between working Americans, government or private sector and FREELOADERS. I guess you are confused, unfortunately stupid people don't even know how confused they are. It's a sad diagnosis. Good luck in life. I'm following Dustin out the for cause you can't have a conversation with one who does not understand the simplest of concepts, but rather twists them in a foul way bc they have no valid argument. It really is sad how you can turn a decent hardworking American into the bad guy. You should know that in Wyoming, they do not operate beyond their means like every other liberal state in America. They have a surplus and they are able to pay their state employees. Maybe the rest of the US should take some notes.

WyOpitz-While agree that there is a difference between people who are "free loaders" and those that work...there's also a difference between "big government and small government". If you want to make smaller government with less spending...you can't just look at the free loaders as they don't make up enough of the budget to reconcile the books. The point is, everyone has their hand out (even Wyoming as they receive 1.11 for every 1.00 they put into fed tax) and everyone thinks they deserve the money for one reason or another. BTW- Montana gets 1.47 for every dollar paid in fed tax, have had a democrat Governor for 8 years and have a fairly large budget surplus...maybe other states should take notes.

All I know is everyone should be saying "where is Ron Paul"? Both candidates were shit cans in my opinion, Obuma being the worst of the two. What is done is done. I hope all us hunters can stick together and not let the gov't take away our gun rights over the next 4 years!!

wow this thread has people fired up. . .nice to see people so passionate. I know that everyone thought Mr. Obama was great for getting us out of the war, but, did anyone read about Iran having 2 jets fire on one of our drones in International air space 10 days before the election? I'm sure it was kept quiet before the election on accident;). My point is, we will just be moving our forces into Iran soon. . .not a real big "change" when you just move them into a new hot zone.

As a NW Montana native and a lifelong hunter I've seen my share of paranoia about the feds descending on us, taking away our guns, and making us slaves to the U.N. I'd like to think the average hunter is informed and rational, but I find the evidence lacking.

To those folks who are going to create another run on ammo because of Obama, why the hell didn't you stock up adequately the first time he was elected?
