Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

Any self-surgeons out there?

I smashed my finger pretty good working in a wood shop in college. Knew they “drilled” through fingernails to relieve that pressure and decided to try it myself with the Dewalt and a tiny bit. That drill bit had a bit of grab when it got through the nail. Probably one of the dumbest, most painful things I’ve ever done to myself.

Hot paperclip works better. mtmuley

Get them once in a while and dig them out myself. I don't use any pain killers, though! Just got in there and dug it up until I could rip it out! It's not always as fun as it sounds.

I have a friend that had is toenail removed because it kept getting ingrown. He said it was the best thing he ever did for his feet.
Last time it happened was 2001. This time around there was a loose piece of my old nail that rolled under the new one growing over it since I ruined my big toes last October.

I knew a guy that had both big toenails permanently removed to make hiking easier - he didn’t miss them.

Did that myself once… the pressure felt better after the pain of the bit going into smashed flesh wore off.

I've done this many times, WITHOUT the electic drill😳. Just spin the tiny drill bit better your finger tips.

I was afraid your story was going to be that the bit grabbed and went right through the finger😳😳🤣🤣
Oh man, I just died a little inside imagining that.

First paragraph makes total sense, but sure didn’t compute in my 20 year old brain at the time.

Did see a guy send a trim nail through the tip of his finger once. Popped that finger nail right off the other side.

Been doing the same procedure once every few months for my entire adult life
