No crampons?

Nope. It would’ve been smart to bring them and I might have gone for it had I.

Emphasis on might, tho. While the snow was packed, it looked over 5’ deep on the high side in places. 2 weeks ago it might’ve been ok to cross with crampons but there was a lotta water running off and underneath is steep. Coming back up might’ve been not fun. This ends up being a 16 mile, 6k elevation day hike if I get to the lake so ya.

Bar miles up mountain. Had a beer and ‘sandwich’. Really civilized - how do we implement this locally?

Great thread. Wish I would have taken advantage of the high country when I was younger. Will be taking my oldest (5) up there with me this year so he doesnt miss out on the experience.

These 2 ancient whitebark pines growing out of the rocks had a lot of character.
