Agreed. The league did a very nice job honoring his accomplishment.Class act. And great celebration by NHL. #GreatestSportThereIs.
I really did like how the game went today with the celebration. It was well worth doing and done with graceClass act. And great celebration by NHL. #GreatestSportThereIs.
He won’t win any awards for his plus/minus.I must be one of the few that has never liked him.
Can't fault the skill but I'll keep my negative comments to myself on this day of holy days
I had this posted on my IG page saying the same thing. He takes care of his own business and it is so damn respectable. No offense to The Great One (Gretzky), but Ovi has never needed goons on his team to stand up for him.
This was against my team - a rookie Russian with aspirations to be like Ovi decides to challenge him to a fight. And soon regrets it. Out for 3 games with a concussion.
The fact that Ovi has played as physical of a game as he has and scored that many goals so late in his career is beyond impressive.
I’ve watched him live many times. One reason he was so successful from that spot is his ability to get there before defenders can adjust to cover him. He can go from standing still to covering 30 ft and being in a different spot faster than any player I know. He’s not the fastest flat out skater, but his power allows him to be really quick at covering short distances. It is absolutely uncanny how good he is at burying the puck from left of the slot. I used to get so pissed when he'd ring up goals on the Wild from the same spot time after time. Everyone knows it's coming yet he gets open looks from there over and over. Record tying and beating goals from there was fitting.

I don't think it's weird at all. Guy broke a record that many thought would never be broken. It was a moment to celebrate not only the new record, but also the old record with Gretz being there, and celebrate the game itself. It's a record that may very well stand for another 30 years like the previous records but Gretz and Howe.Am I the only one that is weirded out by them stopping in the middle of an NHL game to roll out the carpet and have an award ceremony? Just odd to me.
