Chukar Dog Injury

IMG_2327.jpegThe pups will be four weeks old this weekend. They have grown from just under 8 ounces to 4 pounds. The first few weeks were a little stressful with concerns on health and trying to keep two puppies warm. A litter can warm itself easier by laying in a mob. At one point my wife reminded me that I said pups were fun. She was stressed.

We weigh daily and bought formula a few weeks ago to help the male gain weight.

Pups have matured enough that major concerns are gone. They still have a lot of growing to do.

They each have their own personalities. The female, Dot, is easy going and loves to cuddle. She spends a lot of time sleeping on human chests. She has two eye masks, dots on her ear and head.

The male, Jack, was born moving and has not stopped. If he’s not sleeping, he’s searching whelping box or walking around the house. He does not like to be held and will squirm until he is let down. Little stinker will get down to go lay on the floor at my feet versus being held on my chest. He’ll pick fights with Dot which he normally loses. Dot’s has a great game take down move she uses on him. Jack’s completely white except one little orange dot on an ear and a Hitler mustache. Color on both pups will continue to develop as the mature.IMG_2333.jpeg

Cady’s recovered from her surgery and is doing well. She was a good mom in the beginning but is more of an absentee mom now. I have to remind her occasionally to nurse the pups. She is watchful when we’re holding pups to keep track of them.

I’ll touch base again in a month or so.
