alaska,moose black bear hunt

WHoa Wyo, lay off the Mad Dog

While very obnoxious, and hard to believe, I think those contraptions are legal in some areas of AK.

I am a serious moose hunter that lives in Alaska and I think it is a big pile of crap. I would be pretty upset if I spotted that contraption anywhere near where I hunt.

wyodeerhunter.ill be in alaska , hunting griz or maybe the other way around. so quit your job -stop buying shit you dont need, stay in your lawn chair. and may you also have a stunning day. halftrack

most people in the lower 48 dont have a clue of what these rigs are used for or what highly /technical/proffesional guess work , it takes to build one of these rigs. any serious moose hunter in alaska knows what they are.you want to take your new hummer where i take [my atv], bring it on. still looking for 3 bodies ,who's mommy will let them go hunting in alaska. thankyou. halftrack.

Now this is funny..."highly/technical/professional guess work it takes to build one of these rigs". Sure, halftrack...I bet any local high school automotive class could build a better "Grave Digger" than those you have. The pictures show plywood, mis-matched parts, etc. A far cry from highly technical/professional you claim. :D

guppie9 have you ever seen any rigs like this where you hunt. if you live in alaska, what do you use to hunt with. halftrack.

But would it be illegal?
See Wyodeerhunter's signature.

I suppose it would depend on where he was at and who's land he was on (BLM, USFS, State, Native allotment)

Legal or not, it is not how anyone I know hunts moose up here. Do we use ATV's and Argo's? Absolutely, but mostly to get to where you are going to camp and maybe to retrieve your moose. But that "vehicle" is taking it just a little too far, IMO.

dinkshooter,
just because its legal doesn't make it right. I am conviced that if he will drive offroad to go find moose what else is he willing to do to harvest a moose? |oo

halfoncrack,
Where will you be hunting at? I am very curious to know. I will be up there in Sept and you cannot be too far away....

Its people like halfoncrack that makes me seriously consider giving up hunting. Why would you want to be in the same "class" as people like him? He is willing to tear up land because he is too lazy to hike after a swamp donkey. I'm sure hes also the guy that throws his beer cans out the window. Or perhaps even shoots at moose from his "hunting rig". I bet he even has a bumper sticker to the tune of something like "wolfs are gov't sponsored terrorists". He also wears full camo but doesn't get out of his vechicle. 500 yard shots are also the norm for him, and he doesn't check to see if he even wounded the animals because "it ran off, so i didn't hit it". He probably isn't even going to sight in his gun this fall, because it was "dead on last year". #*^@#* him. He's a piece of shit.

At least if i quit my job and sell all the shit i don't need and i go sit in my lawn chair I will not be destroying the mountains.

Nope...never seen anything like that up here in the interior. People use airboats to get across rivers and planes to fly in to remote areas. Where I go, I use an ATV to shuttle camp back about 25 miles on a trail.

This is what the trail looks like. Took this picture a few days before the opener on a neat looking foggy morning coming across the top of a ridge. You can see that the trail I take would not support a vehicle such as yours.

When it comes time to hunt, I use these to get around:

Mr ethical, what is the difference between your ATV and his version?

I would have to say your both pussies for using any fossil fuel burning equipment.

HOw do you know he doesn't set his camp with it AND THEN HUNTS ON FOOT?

By the way, your Fuggin ATV tracks up that peak REALLY are a real sign of what a lazy arse you have.

You gotta love a ATV'er busting the chops of another, although different type of ATv'er.

hey guppie,
those boots look new in your post.....

I was naive...I thought alaska would be the last place where one could maybe get away from the 4 wheelers. Boy was I wrong... Maybe I could in New Zealand, those mountains look pretty steep.

Hey dink,

#*^@#* off.

That trail I'm on is marked on a topo map and authorized for ATV use. I don't take my ATV off trail. The fact is, if you want to hunt moose up here in the interior, you have to get away from the roads....waaaaayyyy away, unless you are just extremely lucky. The only way to do that is by plane, boat, or ATV. I see a huge difference between my 350cc, 550 lb ATV and that monstrosity that halftrack is driving. If you really can't see the difference, oh well.

Wyo...if you want, I can take an actual pic of my boots. But those are the brand and model.

dinkshooter,
thats what I was afraid of. I'm seriously considering new zealand...

guppie,
no need for pics, i was just razzing ya. I hope what you said about that being an established trail. Gawd I would hate to have to slash two hunttalk members tires in one year...

I dont think you'll make it past Halftrack to cut any tires.

you dont like the way the guy hunts....decline the offer, make a good one line joke about his Ice Cream truck and move on.
threats of kicking ass and cutting tires...LMAO, Halftrack will have his foot so far up your ass you'll be able to floss with his boot laces.

Dayum Dink, by any chance were you and Ernesto watching Spike TV last night? Friends don't let friends drink, watch ultimate fighting, and post.;):)

It is true, I assure you. Where I hunt is several hours away from town. Those tards who want to tear things up can drive 15 minutes and do that. The only people I have ever seen on that trail are hunters and Fish and Game Cops. They are people who don't ride off trail.

Oh, and don't get discouraged, Wyo. There are plenty of places that you can fly or float to, its just that I don't have that kind of money. If you can afford to fly in and do a float trip or something similar, I think you'll be more than pleased with the solitude.
