I might be a little crazy! I am back in the saddle again…figuratively and literallyI am in a new area and have what I like to call a Hunt Talk 350 legend tonight. Howa rifle, Leupold scope and Hammer hand loads.

The new area is a heavy travel zone about 600-800 yards from where I saw the big buck. It was supposed to stop raining around 12:00. I am in the tree in an absolute down poor. I hope deer start moving when this passes. 20-30 minutes acording to radar.

This is one of the bigger bucks I have been chasing. This is a good sized buck for Alabama.

Public gets pressured pretty hard, especially national forest. Also keep in mind that most state WMAs have limited gun weekends-- the rest of the season they are archery only.

Buy some snake boots if you are going to hunt much south of Birmingham.

I'm not really into snakes. They make nice backing on recurves though.

That's fair. Saw a lot more moccasins where I hunted than rattlesnakes but there were enough canebrakes to keep you on your toes.

I have seen just about all of them. Until we get our cold snaps, I wear snake boots.

I’m a forester and have spent alot of time in the woods. Lol

Back at it tonight after a little Christmas break. I am seeing decent numbers of does…just waiting for the rut to kick in. Very nice night after massive storms last night. It was 60°when I got in my treestand.

Things are heating up as far as the rut goes. I will be out tomorrow for a morning hunt. I have three target bucks.

This one was out today without a care in the world. He is a very nice 140 class 8. Picture was a bit shaky. I had him standing (area closed today) @40 yards. By the time I pulled my head out…this is what I got.

The other bucks has a double main beam on the right side and is north of 150. Very cool. I hope to have a better picture of him tomorrow morning.

I am now seeing a ton of smaller bucks walking around in day light. Not chasing and nowhere near does but up and about.

Cold morning for Alabama…in the 20s. Deer are already moving…Just a couple does. Hopefully a bucks will follow them.

I ended up seeing about 12 does and no bucks. Very cold sit this morning. I am going to try and get back out tomorrow before a big rain storm rolls in. Todays highs in upper 30s to low 40s…tomorrow is in the 60s.
