I don't know about hors d'oeuvres, that be one of them fancy $5.00 words, well $7.50 with inflation, but it could be for the vittles ya eat before the meal, or even fer spreadin' on the tater. One might even have enuff left over fer a b-day candle iffen it was a romantical type eatin' session
