8 years after back injury

No surgery yet. Dr says I'm not a candidate for surgery. So just trying to get to where I can function again. Really just trying to get me out of pain.

Did he say why you aren’t a surgery candidate?

My first herniated disk the doc played with different non surgery options for 9 or 10 months before it was fixed by surgery.

Well mostly because the surgery he would do is fusion. Said because of where I hurt my back options are limited. Really trying to keep me out of extreme. Really bothers me when I'm super active and moving around. Trying now for disability. Unfortunately it made it to where I'm struggling to shoot my bow. I will be looking into crossbows and maybe even an e-bike. Really want to try my best to still hit some back country trails. Will be slow going though I'm sure.

Well I went ahead and got my mobility impairment certificate. I did get a tag for archery deer in September. I likely won't have a crossbow by that hunt date. Will most likely be next year for me, still waiting on disability to come through. Will likely go with the excalibur brand, love how easy maintenance is. Really been a hard-core archery hunter for 25 years now. Really hard to give up the bow, my back just can't handle it anymore. Should be a fun journey, new weapon for me to try out. Hopefully it will satisfy my archery needs, missing flinging some arrows.

Sorry to hear about your back. Adapt and overcome. I think the Excalibur is a good choice. Simple design. I have had the Matrix 380 for about 12 years. It has accounted for dozens of deer. If needed you can change out string and limbs yourself… even if on a trip somewhere. I keep spare parts with me when traveling.
