7mm 08 ackley

VAspeedgoat no problem on tossing the 7 wsm. The 284 has potential and as a improved 284 Shehane. Go to accurateshooter.com and look at the 7mm info it talks about the 7-08, 284win, 284 Shehane and the short mags. It also talks about Reloader 17 making the 284 come alive. Looks like 3000fps is possible depending on barrel length of course. If your open to a long action the 280 and 280ai look pretty good. Nosler load info shows the 280ai crowding the 7 mag. What weight are you looking for in your rifle? I been looking at the Kimber mountain accent and Montana models in the 280ai show 5lbs 5oz in the accent and 5lbs 10oz in the Montana if my memory is good. I believe they have 24 inch barrels. Just some food for thought. Good luck and have fun I'm looking forward to see what you come up with.

Great stuff dan o! The kimber montana is what started all of this in the first place. Picked one up and fell in love with the stock and overall feel of the gun. It sure would have been cheaper! I will deffinately be checking out the shehane. The barrel that I ordered will be a 23 inch lilja. I dont know why 23 but that is what my guy really beleived in. I think it will be.a little while but I will deffinately be posting pictures as soon as possible.

VAspeedgoat Lilja is located in Plains Mt. which is about 130 miles from where I live in Western Mt. Hopefully this summer I will take a day ride on my Goldwing and check their operation out. I have heard nothing but good things about their barrels. Looking forward to your progress reports.
