6mm CM or 6mm PRC

Drop down to a 22 creed and you would have no problems getting the velocity with a similar BC bullet. Been very easy to reload for.
Do the maths re sectional density with this, might be surprised. Here in nz the guys are running 80 gr projectiles out to 350-400 yrds on red deer, 20 inch barells too.

You’ll love the caliber. My 10 year old daughter was nervous to shoot the 243 youth model the other day. She watched my wife shoot my suppressed 6.5 prc yesterday and we convinced her to try it. She shot it twice putting two rounds an inch apart next to the bullseye. She’s a tiny 10 year old and said it was easy to shoot. I bet your son will like yours too. IMG_0184.jpeg

Heading to the range tomorrow. Just need a quick load worked up for my son’s youth tag this weekend. I’ll get around to the Rattle can job and more load development when I can find some time.

95 LRX and H1000 is first up!

Fair bit of load info for these over on rokslide recently. Let us know how it does!

I have a 6mm benchmark blank sitting in the safe and i'm fighting the urge to spin one of these up.

Loaded a ladder of H1000 from 55-58.3 gr and did not reach pressure. 58.3 was 3125 fps. Going to finish out that ladder with a few more that will end at 59.5. We’ll see where that gets me.

My smith recommended H4350 as well, so I have a 10 rd ladder of that ready to go too.

Also have some n565 I will likely try as well.

4350 seems awful fast burning. Who’s your smith?
I thought it would be too. But in terms of velocity I was wrong. Keep in mind 20” barrel w/ 95 gr LRX.

H1000 59.5 gr - 3191 no pressure but powder is almost to the neck.

H4350 53.7 gr - 3351 slight ejector mark

These numbers make me think RL16 and 4831sc are gonna be good candidates for this bullet weight.

Roughrider Gun Company here in ND. Jake is as good of dude as you’ll find.

ahh, yes i was thinking 108+ grain bullets. That is haulin.

52.5 gr h4350 @ 3290

Rl16 had virtually identical velocities gr for gr. Going to try rl23 since I don’t have 4831sc.

Got out for a couple sessions this weekend.

20” tube +7” suppressor
95 gr lrx

Rl 23 has given me the most velocity. Case fill is pretty good. This is probably the ideal burn rate for this bullet weight. Haven’t found anything that stands out for accuracy yet.

Started at 52 for good measure. Last 5 below.
55.9-3359
56.2-3362
56.5-3396
56.8-3390
57.1-3439 - clicker

H1000
Still haven’t hit pressure. Might not be able to with this bullet.

Last 5 of single rd ladder. Some compressed loads towards the end.
60.7 - 3296
61 - 3314
61.3 - 3324
61.6 - 3350 - shot a 3 round group, wasn’t impressed.
61.9 - 3321

As a bonus, My 7 Sherman max shot a 7 round group under 3/4 min with the 145 lrx at 3250 fps.

Threw my suppressor on and shot a few more with H1000.

Was able to hit 3465 fps with 62.6 gr of H1000 (compressed). That is cookin for a 20” tube! But the third shot was a heavy bolt, so I suspect I’m real close to pressure there.

Suppressor added some velocity as expected, 61.9 was 3400 fps vs 3321 without.

61.9 group - 3/4 of a minute ain’t bad.

Got any N560? I’m guessing that would do really well for you as well.
I don’t. In my experience that’s the same burn rate as RL 23. But that experience is limited to 1 bullet out of my 7 Sherman, so I’m certainly not in a position to argue that possibility.
