6.5 CM as a hunting cartridge... why?

How about a discussion of the 6.5-250 improved. Not the more common 40 degree Ackley but the less common 30 degree RCBS improved. Want to guess what it is practically identical to and will often headspace and fire in with no problem.

Funny how the .250 case, both original and improved has been killing stuff for over a hundred years but now it’s not enough case volume for hunting.

For the little 6.5 creedmoor not being a elk round i watched 4 different elk taken this year with that exact round and not one of them took another step after the shot...

I don’t usually get whitetail does to drop in their tracks with my 300 RUM. Were these CNS shots?

Most whitetail i shoot with my 7 rem mag drop right over. I dont think one yets taken a step from that gun. I always shoot high shoulder. I prefer not to track them. Try adjusting where you aim, even heart shots they'll run.

Edit to say I try to take good shots on an animal that's not running so I can place it where I want it. I'm not some gold medal shooter.

1 Was a cns shot. The others were double lung. Kind of surprised me some To see them go down so fast.
Thanks, I usually shoot behind the shoulder.

Funny you say that. I was shooting an early mfg, 7.5 lb .300 WSM this morning with a solid rubber butt pad. Made my 7mm-08's feel like .22's by comparison.

Yea, the recoil argument for the 6.5 CM just doesn't hold water IMO. I mean, you don't get to argue that there isn't a difference downrange between the CM and the 7mm-08 or .260, then turn around and say there is a noticeable difference in recoil. Physics doesn't work that way.
Why do you keep bringing up the .260 as if it isn’t functionally identical to the creed?

I’m not a CM fanboy, but I have used numerous rifles so chambered to great effect. It’s not earth shattering, but like most moderate velocity centerfire rifle chamberings, it is an emphatic killer when you put bullets where they are supposed to go.
