4 Nations Hockey USA vs Canada

The overall American silence over the threats of annexation, invasion and straight lies about my country is deafening. I've always been against booing any anthem until now. I know this will be poorly received here, but I don't really care given that my homeland is the one being threatened. I 100% support what's going on regarding booing your anthem until things change.

Good on team USA to make the best of it, it was a hell of a game, real f&cking hockey. Hopefully Canada holds onto this 3 goal lead against Finland and meets team USA in Boston for a rematch.
This is my neighbor. (I currently reside in Canada) A great gent! 60 y/o. Military, turned engineer, turned contractor upon retirement. He likes to stay busy. Wife and three boys all 25+ y/o and all proud Canadians... as you can see. Son placed the flag out for the Four Nation Tournament. Had me over for coffee this morning. Enjoyable jabbering about the entire setting - and shared his distaste for some of his Canadians.

An extremely proud Canadian who fought alongside his American brothers. In a nutshell, he emphasized his allegiance to Canada has zilch to do with Trudeau and his screwy "leadership" during his Canadian tenure. He is 100% through and true a proud Canadian. He read your comments. Without sharing his specific thoughts of your position, I walked away confirming you are simply a Canadian with an opinion, the same as some Americans.

We all have opinions.

Best to your Canadians! It was a great game! Looking forward to our re-match, now that Finland has been unhorsed. :) Boston! The puck drops there. I would like to believe Americans will rise above the disrespect select Canadians shared though, not holding my breath.

You can disagree all you want. The Canadians voted to put Trudeau in office. Same deal. That half the leaders of the world are corrupt shitheads does not excuse our corrupt shithead and the crap he as spewed about Canada, Greenland, Panama, Gaza, and that's just warming up. We deserve what we get. No excuses.
Never said it was an excuse. Saying that it’s the truth. I didn’t hate on any Canadians over Trudeau even though they collectively voted him in and I don’t think highly of him as a leader either. I also take issue with numerous policies of both Biden and trump. I don’t blame them for being upset over things. They have a right to be. Two things can be true at the same time. There are disasters from Biden that he’s improving on and there are several things he’s handling poorly in my opinion.

The average Canadian seems to share my opinion and your neighbour is in the minority, yet I respect his stance though I disagree. At 20yo I deployed to Afghanistan a direct result of the US' call out under NATO Article 5, following 9/11. I've also deployed to the Middle East under US Command as part of USSC. I've trained and fought with American soldiers.

It's easy to take this position when your country is the one making threats. It's no longer a "joke" and it is now very clear that your President and his staffers will not let go of this "joke".

Respect is earned, not owed.

I love the US, I have family there and visit regularly, which all make this even worse. We're supposed to be friends; friends argue and disagree at times, but they shouldn't threaten to come over to your house, screw your wife, take your dog and kick you out.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with hockey but the overall "laissez-faire" attitude Americans have towards these threats is ridiculous. Some people are more upset that their anthem was booed, than the fact that their country is making very real threats against their closest ally.

Canadians are taking this rhetoric very seriously. Now lets imagine the uproar if Russia, a nuclear power, was threatening to annex Alaska? How would you feel?

Thank you.

Give me a break. Very real threats? Like the US is going to invade Canada?
Why not? Pretty clearly, he has threatened as much with Greenland and Panama. But regardless, any attempt to take Canada against its will is a threat. Have you seen any Canadians that are overjoyed by this? What do you not get? Yet you want complain about the anthem being booed.

Get used to it. It is going to bet much, much worse.

So, the US players apparently said they decided long before the game to get their fights in early...then they did. And y'all said it was to "set the tone" and compete

Am I the only one that thinks the immediate fights had nothing to do with booing a national anthem and more about competition and kicking ass in hockey?

(Again, I know little to nothing about hockey).

I mean, the fighting to protect the honor of your country is a good storyline, but I'm not sure it's accurate unless someone finds a quote from the tkchsckaiwhk bros saying that's why...

Edit...now i see the rematch is on...id bet all my HT points for the a rematch in Boston there will be booing of Canadian anthem. Takers?

Take your blinders off - you have no right to proclaim how the "majority" believe. You have an opinion. Cheers to your opinion. I have mine. My Canadian neighbor has his. Leave it be.
Do you recall the following before you wanted to re-hash this again?

Really - get over yourself.
Suppose this is one of those, agree to disagree moments. "Justification" to boo...

How about some hockey. Boston it is.

I did did some deployment prep with some army guys from nova Scotia and newfoundland, SOLID guys! As a kid I spent may days in southern Ontario, know and like Canada but it has been changing just like US. I think those changes are in slightly different directions but will eventually come back together. Here is short watch that I thought was very well articulated from a Canadian with American ties like many people are.

Hockey has had some great commercials over the years.

As a Sabres fan the commericals have been better than games I have watched for 15+ years, so over bad hockey! Have enjoyed the excitement around canada/us, I might be ready to be hurt again...
