4 Nations Hockey USA vs Canada

Been to several events in Canada and agree, their pride rings true. How that "pride" turns to justification for booing another country's pride is beyond me.
We should respect other countries moment for their anthem. It is the anthem of the country not of Trudeau, Trump, or other current leader.

Will it happen in Boston? I hope respect is shown though Canada's lack of respect for a team representing a country may have spurred a world of disrespect.
Respect is not something we Americans have given Canada at all of late. To know that. I doubt we will see much respect anywhere in the world anymore, and for good reason. Do not be so disingenuous. We earned this.

Possible exception, Russia.

You get what you give!
When I read statements like the above I understand what empowers the egotistical statements and actions of our president. The lack of self introspection is pathetic

Great game, country leaders do not define their people. Next game in Boston will be interesting. They are not exactly afraid to voice their displeasure in sporting events. First "professional" hockey game I have watched in long time that had the speed, physicality and emotion from both teams. It's like they were running afterburners the whole game. Some of the best clean hard checks you will see. Can't wait for next game but will be better prepared with the right snacks! Pulled out venison salami, sharp cheddar and will drink both Molson and Millerlite.

Great game, looking forward to Thursday and hopefully a rematch. Next year we get the winter Olympics and that should be fun to watch as well. I like both anthems and should get Krista Jane to sing them both. She did a fantastic job. You do not see people slander or change the anthems in hockey like you do in football. It should be about how well you do it, not changing the style to try and improve? on it.

I’ll be sure to ask tomorrow my Canadian friend who will be sworn in as a citizen next month what he thinks of all this. He should be fairly informed since he played in the nhl for a few years. A lot of you guys would be happy he didn’t get to vote this go around and probably won’t wanna hear what he has to say about what Canada has turned into in the last 40 years

Yes, actually they do. After all the people voted for them. What better representation of the people is there? You may not like that representation but it is yours and mine.

Looking forward to hearing it. I am sure the sample size of one will be a definitely answer it.

I’d actually disagree with this, especially since, if we’re being honest, there are probably things we hate about about whoever we vote for. I know a lot of Canadians and they almost all hate Trudeau, so I don’t think he represents them. Most all of the people I know who voted for Biden last election and trump this election are really good people who didn’t agree with everything their candidate stood for. Probably half the leaders of the world are corrupt shitheads, but the majority of the people who voted for them are still good decent honest people, and their other choice was as bad or worse. Lol

Not passive aggressive at all.

If you don't understand the reasons that fighting is a part of hockey, then you simply don't understand hockey.

I mean, you did say that they would be watching the game from the stands for the rest of the game for fighting.

Your response to my thread was simply the word: "dumb."

Don't expect me to "keep the gloves on."
high school and college its an automatic ejection. NHL encourages it. wasnt aware
the Juniors had joined the ranks. So my 'dumb ' comment was off target and poorly chosen.
I understand the game perfectly, I played enough of it.
The goon element is always present. You represent it well

Saying the NHL encourages it these days and acting like it’s just started in juniors says enough about your knowledge. It doesn’t help you.

As for the comments about understanding why Canadians were booing, sure, but you can’t expect US players to just accept that either.

Edit: and maybe I’m wrong about Boston, but we’ll see if that crowd boos or not.

None of the three Americans who started fights are goons. They've all had 100 point NHL seasons. I'd go as far as saying more NHL teams do not even have a goon anymore. Guys who can't contribute other than fighting typically aren't making NHL rosters.

Brady is probably the best power forward in the National League.

They fought to show they were taking the game seriously and it wasn't an All Star game. And because they wanted to set a tone that they'd be more physical and not back down from anyone.

The only major junior league to have ejections for a fight is the Q. They also gave a guy like a five game penalty for calling someone a pussy, so you'll likely see that league fizzle as far as pro prospects go.

NHL doesn't encourage it. They penalize it for a five minute major.

NHL player polls show 98-99% of players do not want fighting gone.

Fighting protects players.
