.308 win bullet selection for new reloader

I'm using 165 gr nosler BT with imr4895. For practice I am using hornady bthp. By using a bit less powder for the hornady, it flies nearly identical. And it's cheaper to shoot.

I think as far as bullet choice goes, use whatever gives you confidence. I know nosler BT is supposed to bounce off the hide of elk, but so far it's worked for me. I can always swap to accubond since the BC is the same.

165-168 gr seems to be the real sweet spot for 308. Tons of great powders but I have found imr4895 super dependable. Can be hard to get at times and getting expensive. But what powder isn't? I bought a bunch of varget to try next. Supposed to be great for 308.

I started with 165 bts and 44 gr Varget. More accurate than the factory Nosler loads with the same bullet that I was using.

I have 2 308s. Booth shoot the same load, as well as i can.

200CCI large rifle
44gr Varget
165 accubonds

I also have shot a lot of 165 Sierra GK, same load. Shoots just as well

Almost talked myself into a third 308 the other day.
