270 WSM 130 Accubonds

I haven't. Don't have anything in .277", but if I did I would be in the 140gr Accubond camp. It's about the only AB that I can see that has a big jump in BC over it's ballistic tip counterpart. IIRC, it's got the same BC as the 150gr BT. FWIW...

I just got done working up a load for my 270 WSM using 140 grain Accubonds. I ended up with 59.5 grains of IMR 4350. I don't have a chronograph so I don't know the velocity but the accuracy is great.

I'm glad you asked as I have a pile of brass now that need reloading and I'm not sure where to start. As for the hunt this week I'm hoping a white sheep gets to taste a Core lok 130 grainer. My gun shoots them well.

Pointer got me to thinking about BC & switched the bullet order to 140 grain Accubonds...gonna load up some RE22 and some IMR 4350 & see what the paper and chrony says.

The 140's look a lot better on paper to me too.

That should be an awesome round.

What gun are you loading for?

I have been playing with loads for my 270 wsm. I am really liking the 165 matrix vlds (.650 bc) 66 grains of retumbo. velocity (2807) 5 shot group @ 100 yards cover with a dime and @ 200 cover with a nickel! 600 cover with a chew can. i am shooting a sako tecomate.

It's a great round. My son's Tikka in 270wsm seriously tempts me to sell my Rem700. 100%factory it shoots extremely well with most bullets.

It likes Hornady 150 sp best of all. Not a "premium' bullet, but it pancaked an elk last fall. High shoulder shot which caught both shoulders and spine. Quarter sized exit hole.

I have loaded up some 140 Accubonds with RE17. I think I am at 61 grns and I shoot sub MOA at about 3175 fps. I tried RE 22, IMR 7828, and MagPro. I got the best ballistics and groups with the RE 17. I ended up with about 75 fps extra with the RE17 over all others. I can easily hold a 5 inch groups out to 600 yards. I like the 270 WSM, to me its a great round with 140 accubonds. All that said, I bought my 270 WSM for bigger animals (I.e. elk). My go to rifle is a .257 weatherby with 110 accubonds at 3400+ fps. Please work up slowly when reloading. I got well over 3200 fps out of federal premium ammo with 140 Accubonds and great accuracy. I reload to save money and gained a little in accuracy to boot.
