26 year wait - Utah elk hunt

Excellent. Not that there was much doubt what the outcome would be, yet you got your 26 years of waiting. Congratulations, Kurt. Glad Mike was there.

Very happy for you. Thanks for sharing the adventure here on Hunt Talk.

Atta Boy! You sure put plenty of time and effort into that tag, and did it justice. I don't think I have the emotional maturity to spend 20 days of the season sifting through elk.

But then again you had 26 years to prepare for this moment...

Nicely done.

New recipe for shooting a giant elk . . .

1) Draw an awesome tag.
2) Work your ass off scouting every nook and cranny of the unit.
3) Invite me along to help.
4) Shoot something before I arrive so I don’t screw it all up.

Congrats on a gorgeous bull!

Well at least he'll have someone to kill some green cans with!

First off, congratulations on a great bull Kurt!
I've know Kurt for a long time. I've had the honor of hunting with him a number of times. If there is one thing I've come to know for sure about him is the that luck in the smallest part of his success. It took him more luck to draw the tag after 26 years, than anything. He might argue with me about that, but I've known him too long and seen his consistent success far too much to believe that luck is a huge factor in his success. He just flat out hunts hard and puts in more effort than most. I envy his relentless tenacity more than his success in killing oversized big game animals. There is just absolutely no quit in him.
