But does he make a good sandwich? That's sucks, but you get to keep hunting one of the coolest tags around. The bull I tried for on the opener was killed yesterday by the UT gov tag holder and scores 430 typical as a 6x6. Bummed, but oh well.

Everything on that rack is too long but I could tell that from the on the hoof photos @Beaver Hunter had posted. His antlers are dirty, you didn’t want that one anyways.
Edit to add: his 3rds are too long. Nobody likes that.
I guess you weren't eager enough on the Beaver to compete with WL and crew. The bull I tried for on the opener was killed yesterday by the UT gov tag holder and scores 430 typical as a 6x6. Bummed, but oh well.
At least you put your eyes on a giant, even if it's dead now. I sympathize with you, I hunt the same area in Colorado every year, it gets lots of attention from outfitters and swarms of Utah hunters along their huge posses of spotters hoping to surround any 200" buck they can find. I find it odd how the hunting culture in one state evolved the way it did. Very unfortunate. It might not be the same bull, I hope not. Same guides that bumped the bull on opening of archery are the ones behind that one. Regardless - Utah has some huge elk.
