May be the last buck I shoot for a while.

Had the morning to cruise around and listen to some Jim Croce and watch for bucks. First day out I wasn’t real serious about filling my tag.

When this buck came out from behind a hill at 200 yards I got pretty serious. Made the mistake of looking at him through the scope on 14x.

Super happy with him for this area, especially a couple days into season.

I am fairly certain someone else has their sights on this buck as well due to the grazing wound on his neck and cut hair over his cheek. I don’t think fighting with each other is doing that.

Anyways, I don’t know much about them, but I’d shoot this one about every time. Maybe not as tall as some other bucks, but pretty heavy and those cutters are making me feel some kind of way. Probably pretty average for most of you, just let me enjoy my moment, damnit!

Trying the sous vide method for this guy, around 24 hours in at 140*, maybe could have started hotter but not wanting to risk it.

Nice buck. Congrats. But what's up with "May be the last buck I shoot for a while."?

Looks great! Did you polish the horns with something?

I did, went with some mop and glo, saw it on the internet.

Really like the sheen and it does seem to “seal” them. I had several heads that I didn’t use and it did appear that the horns were drying out some.

Right on. They look good. Mine look more dull and dry. I’ll try it out.
Thanks for the tip

What did you do for the teeth? All of mine stay black, that looks amazing.

You talking about inside the jaw there above the teeth? If so, yes very frustrating. I actually ended up pulling the first 3 or 4 teeth in either side and using a syringe to kind of flush out those pockets. Then back into the bath it went. I think this one has two trips into acetone with the dawn soaks in between.

I find pronghorn super greasy and with all sorts of little nooks and crannies they are pretty aggravating to get really clean.
